I had an auto flower in the back yard that upon inspection today I realized had spider mites. Now it was pretty much finished so I cut it down and took the garden hose to it , but is it to late to save for smoke or is it just trash. Your thoughts?

You took a hose to your finished buds?...

If they were ready to chop anyway you should have just hung them to dry. The mites would have died when the bud dried.

You probably ruined all the tricomes in the process of washing them. You can try to dry them now, but they're probably not worth it now.

He never specified whether he power hosed them, you do relise trichomes do not wash off, you get them on you're hands and even dish wash soap doesnt wash them off...

but yeah i wouldn not have done this, i would have just dried the bugs live of live plant matter, if the plant matter is not LIVE then neither are the bugs :)

What actually did was wash them off with a outside spicket without a hose. As far as washing off some trichs it was try that or throw it away. My main concern really was not bringing it in the house as i do indoor in the winter. All is good now though as have i hung it at a buddys house , it still looks dank as shit. When it dries ill make up my mind about smoking it.

remember, the mites generally dont manifest themselves in the actual buds. They're smart enough to know they'd get all stuck in there. Keep it outside, ( or ya in your buddys house is better haha) and when it dries out good just snip the buds out of it. With a scope you'll see little to no dead mites in the actual bud.

You can split hairs all you want, but the truth is you should never wash your buds. Whether it be under a gentle spray, power washer or whatever else...

Even if all your tricomes are intact you're still setting yourself up for problems, such as mold.

Op would have been better off simply letting them dry naturally. The mites would have died on their own and there would be no issue. That being said, I hope your weed turns out alright.
