Transplanting

I am going to transplant a 20 day old snow white plant, from shitty miracle grow soil into some good soil. Any tips or advice on how to do this with minimal shock to the plant would be great. Thanks

First what size is the pot? and if you can go a little bigger and just fit it in there. I like to build up gradually so as to grow veg and not more roots. I do wonder about the soil because I at first was having major problems with miracle grow moisture control, it already has nutes in it and it holds the water, I was not used to that and I now have mastered it. But it did take time. It almost cost me a grow, but I finally got it under control. If you really want to get rid of that soil around the roots I would try to get some off but you can't mess with the roots too much, it will shock and take a few days to pull out of it. I talked to the MG people about their nutes because of flushing and they said it is 90 soil, so no matter how much I wash it out the nutes are still there, I;m wondering how can that be? I hope I helped a little.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I'm really wondering if it can be totally transplanted in new soil. I'm thinking that obviously some of the tiny hair like roots will not hold up, or be severed, with the switch to new soil, then again, I've never done it. If its something I can do without killing it, I'd like to do it. I wanted this grow to be my next step up from my first CFL grow, but it is looking worse so far.

I try like hell not to touch those tiny hairs, When I clone if I touch one of those hairs the plant dies, so I would be very careful on them. I how ever out in the garden just go for it and get all the soil off the roots and everything seems fine. I guess it's up to you. If you don't like the soil you need to get as much as you can off there. Like I said earlier I like to go from little pot to a little bigger pot, so it's not too long before the roots reach out and get out of the old soil if you know what I mean. Just try to wrangle a lot of that bad soil off there and leave a core root system it should be ok it will shock for just a day or two but you will be happier if you are comfortable with the new soil. Remember it's a weed in the end and we tend to baby them sometimes to death. The strong survive, and in the end we learn what to do for next time. Good luck to you!!!

Oh and I forgot to say a lot of people say to not repot after you've watered and on this particular time I am wondering if maybe you should water and then do it because all that soil will fall right off for you. Think about it for a minute and then do what you think is best it's your plant and ultimatly you are the one who has to make the call.

I haven't transplanted pot before so I don't know if it's the same but I used to work in a green house and transplanted many different kinds of plants and never had a problem. just wet it really well tap it out of the pot remove the soil that you can and put in a pot 1/2 full of soil and hold it up and fill in around at least as deep as it was but you could put it deeper up to the first leaf. I'm just a noob with this so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Yep I agree one hundred percent, and the hand washing is probably the first time ever some one said something very valuable!!! I mean if he wants the old soil gone it's the only way I can figure this to happen.
