transplanting question

I tried to find this answer by searching but I couldn't really find anything that was specific to my situation so I apologize in advance if this has been asked 1000 times before.

Growing in super soil here...I plan on starting in basic soil in a 16oz cup. Do I transplant into a 1 gallon after the cups and then into the 3 gallon pots I bought? Or should I go straight from the cups to the 3 gallons. I've already purchased some 3 gallon smart pots so that is the one thing that is for sure.

I've also seen where people wait to put in the 3 gallon until flowering. What do yall think is best?

If you have the room go straight into the 3 gal. Transplanting causes some shock and slows growth down for a week or so, so the less transplanting you do the better in my opinion.

I pot up twice. From jiffy plug to 3 inch pot. Then, I get my 3 gallon and fill it with soil except I sink the 3 inch pot into the bigger pot as a kind of mold. Then - when you take the plant out it fits perfectly into the bigger pot and doesn't even 'know' it happened. Works on weed and any other plant you can think of. Just don't do it when the soil is dry - has to be damp. Have fun.
