Hey there, i have 2 plants that im pretty sure someone is watching right now and dont want them to get snatched. They are about 4.5 feet tall each and are about a week or 2 into flowering. Just wondering if A. is it possible to transplant a flowering plant without much shock and B. how far should i dig around and down to ensure i dont do too much damage to the roots. Also C. should i feed it any nutes or just water after i have transplanted? Im hoping to do it in the evening time. any help would be appreciated. Im super paraniod that these are gonna get stolen :(

I would say you would have to dig mighty deep, the roots for most plants extend as far as the size of the actual plant. A 4 feet plant, would have 4 feet deep roots. As for shock, make sure you watch the plants after the transplant, and give root nutrients. I've heard some people say giving nutes after a transplant is a bad idea, but I've always done it after my transplants and it's worked out

alright before u go diggin it up id suggest this, leave sum type of trip wire up that will break if ppl walk into it so u no ppl r going back there,or leave some lose dirt around so if unwanted visitors come u pick up their footprints, now as for digging it up i would go about 2 1/2 feet down and the same goes for diameter, u dnt have to necessarily get all the roots but u want a good majority of the root ball

and its gonna be impossible to get it outta the ground w/o to much shock, but she will recover, so its shock the shit outta ur plant or get it stolen

yea he's right, digging up and transplanting in the hot time of year, is very hard to do . You will have some shock, and you can pull it through, but it's gonna stunt her and slow her down for a while, and it will hinder your yield in the end too. If your not super careful, it will die on ya. As far as how much root to get, you need as much as you can get, if you can get em all undisturbed, it'll be ok. Good luck!

lol super old post but i transplanted them all well and good. i went down about 24 inches on both. i was super surprised that they didnt get shocked. lol i was a bit worried moving them for a number of reasons but the biggie being i had to cut across a grocery store parking lot with a couple 4.5 ft flowering plants wrapped up in garbage bags. And i know someone seen them for sure cause the city cut the grass in that area and left my plants alone.

i moved plants for the same reason, ( i got caught and the dude was cool with me growing there. but i wasn't cool with him knowing i had my money trees there) I pulled up 6 plants only dug about 2 feet deep and wide. i heard the roots ripping but none of the plants died. they took the transplant quite well.

root prune it if you have time - reduces shock. also, water it well before a few hours before digging. handle gently - GL

No dont do it. i had this problem last year and dug out a dozen 5 foot bushes and carried them 700m out of the bush into car and into diff place and guess what they all but died.Better off leaving them there and hoping for best.
