Transplanting doubts

Im growing from seed in smart pots of 7 liters . Im now wondering if i should have used jiffys and after that a small plastic water cup and then final pot ? is this recommended or in smart pots i can put the seed in the final pot . if so why . thank you

I always recommend at least potting up 3 times starting in a jiffy in a small pot keep an eye on your roots filling the pot then go slightly larger to say half of your final pit in your case say a 4 litre pot then let that fill out then hit your final 7 litre pot this way your plant will grow faster and your roots will be more vast and healthy if you was to put a seed into a massive pot your plant would struggle to grow until your roots filled the pot your plant would be spending more time growing roots than the plant. That's why its always a good idea to pot up. Hope this helps

You can plant in a big pot and just water a small area around the seedling then increase the watering as the plant grows.

You can do that but then again your roots will keep streaching looking for water which in turn slow growth i did try that technique lol

Bingo bango bongo. I'm horrible at transplanting so I "transfer" to 19L -5 gal, day after sprout.
I encourage root growth throughout my pot. Auto grower.

I'm not saying you can't dive straight into your final pot just saying the plant takes longer to grow is all.

It's not slow growth, it's that it spends more time up front developing a root structure. After that's complete, it'll grow like crazy.

That seems like an awful lot of extra work, extra stress, and extra points of possible failure (eg. root tears, dropped plants etc).

I transplant once... from my starting 1/2 gallon pots to my final 3 gallon pots, about three weeks before the start of flower.

A very easy, tried and true method is to drop a seed into a Solo cup or small pot (I start seeds/plant clones in 1/2 gallon pots), directly into your medium. When you get to the point that watering once a day isn't enough, transplant it into its final pot. For the first watering, use slightly more water than you would if you were still watering in the small pot. After that, water to runoff, always at or near the start of lights-on time.

I think they are talking about Autos. Apparently you must plant that type in the final pot.

Oh, autos. I had no idea... my bad.

This is my first year growing autos. I've got two outside alongside my vegetable gardens.

I was told by the breeder I got the seeds from to always start them in their final pots right away to remove entirely transplant stress.

I dont like the ideia of transplanting would it be to wrong to only use jiffy and then direct to final pot ? Also im not planting autos , im using feminized seeds
