Transplanting auto during flower

Hello everyone!

I'm curious as to what some other people think of up-potting one of my autoflowers that's pretty deep into flowering.

I didn't expect her to get as big as she did and now I'm seeing signs of what I believe to be root problems due to the pot drying out. (Coco/perlite)

Here are some photos.

Whole Plant:

2 gallon fabric pot:

Leaf problems:

So yeah, these problems probably won't go away anytime soon and will only get worse as time goes.

I'm thinking about slicing out the bottom circle of the pot and just placing that pot in a 5 gallon fabric pot and give the roots some chance to spread out a bit and moisture can retain a bit more.

I'm pursuing this because I think a tradition up pot would be too much stress at this point. I've seen methods similar to this done before, but any advice on it would be appreciated!

Specifically, cutting techniques and tools to use for a clean cut and transfer. Thanks a bunch! Peace and love!

Edit: I know it's pretty leafy in there, plan on thinning it out here soon. Just been busy as heck.

Go for it!!! It should work as long as you're not damaging the roots... That's just me thinking though, I'm not an expert in the least... I want to cee what happens for sure though...

Thanks for the replies! The encouragement is great and makes me feel more confident about taking this on.

I would leave them as is. Either feed then more often or lower your EC and they'll be fine.

I did a seed to harvest run in 1 gallon pots and only fed once a day in flower. Dry by the next morning, but they were fed a max of 1.2 EC and were fine.

Beautiful ladies!! I wish I controlled this one a little more than I did, but I'm still very new and just trying to get a feel for growing.
Currently, lights are on from 6pm-12pm. I feed at 6pm, and 6am. I wish I could do a third watering, but a man's gotta work.

For watering, I'm at .5 EC. I am doing a very light mix of DynaGro nutes. Does this mean I should bump it up?? I'm still pretty heavy leaning towards the up pot to be honest.

Edit: Grammar, and also, don't mean to discredit your advice or anything. But maybe I'm just messing up elsewhere too that I'm not aware of, causing more problems...

They shouldn't be that dry if you are feeding twice a day. Not familiar with DynaGro but I'd be feeding higher.

I'd avoid feeding at lights out. I always try to feed at least a few hours before lights out if doing multiple feeds.

When lights go off and the temperature drops humidity naturally rises. With wet pots that will only compound humidity issues. During flower high humidity is a recipe for PM or bud rot.

I'll snap some pics when I get home before I water, cause the pot is looking bone dry and the sides/bottom have no moisture. She feels light as a feather too when doing a gentle pickup.

My other plants are much further into flower so I've been lazy and feeding everyone the same. So that one's on me.

Definitely not running so many different plants in the future as I've learned my lesson that everyone likes nutes a little differently.

For watering, I should clarify, lights come on at 6pm and are on all the way to 12pm the next day. So I feed right when they wake up, then about 12 hours later, 6 before lights out.

Definitely being weary of PM and bud rot as I've seen photos and it's never pretty. Plus, who wants to lose all that dank they've worked for!!

In the end, looks like I'll try bumping the feed a bit for this plant specifically. The wilting leaves is spreading fast and aggressively though, so I am a bit concerned and wanting to act/remedy quickly.

My mistake! I realize it was 6pm to noon the next day but for some reason my brain was thinking lights out at 6am the next day lol.

If they are feeling light then they are thirsty girls! Are you feeding to significant runoff?

No worries!

Out of the 4 autos I'm running (my first ones ever) this HulkBerry (from RQS) is the only one drinking up this much, but she's also the biggest. Pushing runoff to 20% at each watering of 1.75L at the moment.
