Transplanting 101 and Why.

I prefer to start seeds/clones in small containers and move them up to 1 gal then 3 gal. The reasons for this are~ Keeps you from over watering~roots will run out of running room and start to grow thick~Fresh soil is always good.

As you can see the plant is ready to transplant into a bigger container. I move them up slowly, and veg hard. This is a one gal. In a month I will go 3 gallon, and maybe 5 gal, 1-2 week before 12/12 ~ 12-16oz containers for seed and clones.
I get my soil half full then water it down. Makes for a good pack.

Squeeze the sides of the cup to loosen up soil and that way the plant will slide right out.

Roots are thick, thats what I want.

I prefer to break off all extra soil at bottom and see what the roots look like.

All set in a 1 gallon, fresh soil and lights not set to come on for 6 hrs. They need there rest.

:blsmoke:Lights up and here they are....

nice post. i always see people asking about how to transplant.

i like to use the transplanting method also. easier to take care and water them with less water in smaller containers. i can fit many more plant under the fluoro and cfl's during early veg. stage, and also lets me transplant the seedling deeper into the soil in the next size pot to get more of the stem submerged.

+rep for the nice tutorial and pics

Well Said! That is very true, more room in veg,,Seeds go deeper~ I like to clone my ladies 2 weeks before going 12/12 so that leaves bare stem. So after I clone, rest a day, then sit them deep in a 5 gal with fresh soil.
