Traits

Which regards to dominant and recessive traits , are they specific ones that are dominate and recessive like bigger buds bud colour leaf colour or node spacing , is there a list of those traits ? Or is it just trial and error ? Like if I take a tall male and a short female , what trait of those two are dominant or which one is recessive with regards to plant size as an example

There is no list that says which trait is going to be dominate. There are all kinds of factors that come into play. Much of it has to do with the genetics you start with. Many of the hybrid F1's people are growing have so much variety in their lineage that even if you try and pick a male and female with the same trait you want there is no guarantee that it will even show up if you breed 2 together and could take generations to show up.

One thing I have found is that stable IBL's will be dominate over strains that are not stabilized. PCK is an example. I've crossed PCK with numerous hybrids and the PCK just dominates the offspring.

With PCK there are 2 pheno's. A green and a colorful with the colorful being the most prevalent. I've taken a male and female green PCK and the majority of the seeds produced came out as the colorful pheno. I've just pollinated for F5 generation of a cross I'm working on of PCK + Durban. I started with a green PCK and have been selecting green pheno's on all the subsequent generations and am still getting both green and colorful. It takes a long time selecting through many plants to stabilize a strain for the traits you want. That's why you see so many strains with a half a dozen or more pheno's. They were not actually bred out and stabilized but are just F1 crosses. Basically pollinating a female with a male and making seeds.

It's funny. So many people seek out colorful weed and I'm trying to breed the color out.

That makes sense

My GDP always seems to dominate my crosses, which I want
ATF also seems to dominate

Can i ask why you want to breed the color out?

Once again my man @xtsho coming through ... this guy is truly a G . Much respect
Well thanks, I'm flattered.

But as I have in my signature, I have no formal education in plant science so I'm just relating my experience over the last few years. Nothing is scientific. I'm just a dabbler in plant breeding but I find it fascinating. Besides cannabis I have some projects going with vegetables and flowers. It's a long process and I'll likely still be fiddling around making seeds until the day I die. I'll probably be laying on my death bed not thinking about dying but how that last cross turned out. :bigjoint:

Out of the 2 PCK phenotypes the green tends to be more resinous and potent. I also thought that it had a better taste and smell. The first time I grew it was a pack of 5 fems. I ended up with 4 purple and 1 green. When all was said and done I preferred the qualities of the green over the purple. The taste, smell, and effect just seemed superior to me. Don't get me wrong. The purple is good but I prefer the green better. To me something just seems missing with really colorful weed.

I think you are on to something with the color and less potency being hand in hand, i have a friend who wont mess with purple bud because he thinks it comes with a weaker potency for what ever his reasons are... seems that the theory exists else where as well though... good to know thank you for explaining.
