Ok so im new to this threading thing but ill give it a shot i have a few "theoretical" questions about an op i might be setting up. I have experience with one crop but i am wanting to step up my grow room a little nicer and bigger for my next crop. i am looking for efficiency and stealth along with an appropriate budget and a large harvest. i want to be able to run my grow room with great ease and along a somewhat detailed schedule. i used google sketch up to get you guys a close diagram and am hoping that you will help me work most of the kinks out.
I have so much information and questions i know i will be bound to skip some things but i am hoping that with your help and extensive knowledge i can sucessfully complete my grow. i will try to summarize all my questions at the bottom as they will be randomly scattered through my rambling.
So basically im going to do this whole thing inside a portable, enclosed utility trailer. the model i chose off the internet was a Challenger Enclosed Cargo Trailer 612CT. The inside dimensions are 12'5" x 6'8" x 5'8". i chose this one because it was about the size i wanted. i wanted a high yielding harvest from hydroponics so i chose a total of 6 25 gallon tubs (3 for veg and 3 for flower), for the hydroponic version of SOG. the approximate legnth fits 3 tubs (with 8 sites each) to a side plus a door on the right side and a cabinet on the left. There is room on walls for electrical and ventilation and also a CO2 canister. Some storage is also available above the cabinet for fertilizer and other tools.
I have it setup so that there are 4 "Stage Rooms." There will be 24 plants in each room to keep my operation on a consistent harvesting schedule. The first stage of course is the "clone room". In there i plan to have a 4 tube florescent light above a clone tray which is atop a heat pad. I plan for there to be 24-30 clones in this room initially and keep that maintained as i will be harvesting my crop potentially every 3-5 weeks. I will explain my "Harvest Schedule" later.
The next room will be right below the cloning chamber and it will be the initial veg room.( i am still deciding if i want this room and might convert it into a room for mother plants. the only downside of this is that i wont harvest as often but it will allow for reliable cuttings for my new crop...(id like input on weather or not i should keep this room, make it a mother room or split in half...)) In here i will have either a 250 or 400 w MH lamp that will welcome the young sprouts to the journey ahead. i have not figured out what type of watering system i will use for this as the clones from the previous stage will be in rockwool cubes. i am hoping to use this room as a light buffer room and also to allow for the plants to get slightly larger before being put into the main veg room. it will have a closing door so i want to make sure my ventilation is proper and the light wont burn the plants. also any ideas on an automatic watering system would be great. (now that i write this i might use some type of aeroponic setup so rooted clones can be placed in net pots, just for convenience of moving them to the next room and also not having to worry about weaving roots.
The next room is the Main Veg Room. I plan to move plants into the veg room after they have been in the initial veg room for about 2-3 weeks. This will just allow for the plants to be slightly bigger before being put under larger lamps and it will also allow me to harvest about every 3 weeks. Both my veg and flowering rooms have a capacity of 24 plants. i have each room equipped with 3, 8 site, 25 gallon dark plastic hydroponic resivors. i would like to be able to move plants one by one from veg to flower as to keep nutrients at a maximum level for each individual plant and allow for a root flush during transfer but i may have to transfer all my plants at once to keep on schedule for harvest. i am not sure what wattages of lights i should use( am thinking 2 600w per 24 plants for veg and flower) but i know i want 2 in each room and MH in veg and HPS in flowering.
my harvest schedule looks like this. i have it divided up into three sections...
Section 1 clone and sprout phase. i will have my cutting under the florescent light for the first stage. after these plants have been properly rooted they will be transported into 3-4 inch net pots with hydroton rocks and placed in the initial veg camber. the plants will grow under a MH lamp and receive hydroponic nutrition for the first time.
Section 2 veg phase. when the plants are ready i will move them to the vegative chamber. in this room plants will be lit by 2 (600w) MH bulbs and receive same supplemental nutrients via hydroponics.
Section 3 Flower and harvest. When the plants have reached flowering maturity they will be transferred for the final time into the flowering chamber. the lights will be changed to 2(600w) HPS bulbs and will also receive supplemental CO2. The nutrient schedule will also be adjusted and light cycle changed. HARVEST!!!!!
So thats what i got...and this is what i got not... i am having trouble finding an ac/ heater unit. it needs to be small and i want both a heater and ac built in one for my intake. based upon my square footage i will need an approximately 300CFM(not sure if this is right...i have numbers in the diagrams but they are just rough numbers and they also dont go all the way to the ceiling...round up... for those of you willing enough to check my simple math haha) fan to evacuate air through the "productive" air space (that being the total square footage minus that of the entry room, hydroponic resivors and cabinet) in approximately 4 min. i would like to have a capable carbon filter and have all the ventilation stuff fairly conveniently mounted and out of the way. this brings us to question #2. How, if im going to get a 15amp rated xtreme greenhouse controller, am i going to power 4 600w HP ballasts, 1 400w MH, 1 florescant light, 6 water pumps an ac/heater unit and possibly more. what stuff do you recommend having on the main controller and what stuff should be put on separate timers and circuits. . when the grow room is full of plants(96 plants) all lights, pumps and fans will be on a 12 hour period of the day. i dont know the exact amps(saving that for a long free time after i have figured out everything else) but i know that exceeds 15amps and that will fry my climate control and probably be popping circuits all day long. also input on the main "power in". i was thinking about something similar to that of a semi trailer and truck... the cabin of the truck will be the main power source( inside my garage) and the trailer will be like my trailer with 3 cables connecting the two. i didnt want to use a simple "extension cord" like plug just for security and safety. I had thought that maybe i could split a 50 amp circuit breaker into three "female" plugs with locks at the end. this line could then plug into the "male" plugs connected to the trailer and then wired into a breaker box inside the trailer. they need to be securely connected so they dont "accidently" fall out. i will try to get a diagram in my next post.
This is just a basic overview of what i have planned. i have been trying to work out a few numbers in terms of wattage of lights, CFM, amperage used, harvest yield and initial cost and will post these in my next update i will also try to get some more pictures of more intricate parts(power supply) but in the mean time just looking for some brainstorming and feedback
peace
