Tough Start. Is it too late

I planted a bagseed on 3/12. It sprouted just before I left the state for two weeks. Unfortunately, I could only put it in a greenhouse kitchen window that gets around 6 hours of sun max (morning sun). The temps were around 60. So when I got home on 4/1, it was pretty stretched with only 4 leafs. I then moved it to my bedroom closet and bought a 70W HPS from Home Depot and a desk fan. After a week, still did not see much growth. So starting around 4/8, I added 3 -23w 6500l CFL's and moved the plant to a rubbermaid shed on the side of my house. I also purchased a wireless weather station to monitor temp and humidity. The plant has taken off and wanted to know, am I almost assured to get a male plant since it had a tough first few weeks.

Also, I know a plant can be labeled indica or sativa depending on leaf shape. Can you guys tell me what this appears to be.

Lastly, the area I live in is pretty ideal for growing weed. Avg spring temp is 74 or so. Avg summer temp it 82. So will it hurt the plant if for 8 hours a day or so, I move the plant from the artificial lights to an area with direct sunlight? So then the plant would get 8 hours of sun and 10 hours of artificial light.

Thanks for your help.

Environmental factors, stress, and what not, usually only affect the plants sex later in the veg. growth... appx 2-4 weeks in. So I don't think the early stress on your plant would have a large effect on it.

Not sure what strain it would be, if I had to guess I would say its more on the indica side because of how short/bushy it is. The leaves on sativas are also usually longer, where as yours are pretty short.

Its a lot of work to be moving your plant around that much, plus it would prefer to remain under the same conditions. I'd probably just keep it under artificial light unless you can get it more real sunlight per day.

Thanks for the info. One more question. I was looking at the plant today, and some growth in a node elbow . Is it too early to tell sex? Wish I could have gotten a better closeup, but camera sucks.

you can determine sex a little later. Females will grow this little pistils that you must of read by now & males grow balls. Let it keep going your plant not cross pollinate untill the males has flowered so you have plenty of time to seperate the two. Try to get the hps system as close as you can get it to the plant without causing heat stress. You want to avoid the stretchy growth.

Well it was not a good week. I am growing in a shed and up until now, temp was not a problem. However, this week temps in my city were 30 degrees above normal (near 100). Not having AC in the shed, meant that I had to remove the plant and put outside (100 is better then 115). Well my leaves were fried. However, the Good/Bad news is I think it is a male anyway.
Here are some better closeups of the pre-flowers. Do you agree?

The last pic is just showing the burnt leaf edges. The largest leaves on the plant were completely burnt and shriveled so I removed before this pic.

One side note, anyone know of a cheap portable ac unit. The shed is rubbermaid, so there is not a place for a cheaper window unit. I am only growing for personal stash.
