I've just germinated an easy ryder and a sensi skunk. Both autos.
I've not got lights or any kind of set up they are just in 5 gallon pots on a windowsill in my spare room.
Will this work?

That's one big ass windowsill! I think you know the answer. IF that was all the light needed, why would we all be spending $$ on lights....

I thought that with it being an auto, the light didn't matter so much....? It'll get about 16 hours of natural daylight for the next two months and as they are both plants that are suitable for an outdoor grow where light can't be controlled, I thought it might be ok?

I own my own house, so no probs there and I'm in Manchester, England so not a lot of people know what a weed plant looks like, especially in a second floor back of house bedroom window.

Why grow two autos for an oz? Get some cheap lights to help her along
How much difference is that likely to make? I've seen a few grow diaries where the grower has done the same as me and added some basic bio mutes and got great results.

Because it's easier for a dumb noob like me to do that. I've laid out 25 pounds on seeds (2 germinated, 2 in reserve) and round here, an 1/8 of an oz of shit weed is twenty quid ($30)

Anyway.....
I was hoping for a bit of advice and support for a newbie. Any chance of someone answering my questions rather than tell me I'm doing it wrong and intimating I might get busted.....

your pots are way too big for seedlings, you have to start with smaller pots than transplant a couple times dont know how old your plants are if you can take them our without damaging the roots ... pics would be useful

Thanks angel eyes.
Sooo much conflicting advice out there, I've also heard that you should start the seeds in the pot they will flower in.
I'm so confused!!

Starting in final pots is not hard nor detrimental imo. I started some in small pots, and some in their final pots, and if anything the ones in final pots edged out the ones I transplanted up to the final pots. It is a bit tricky with the watering to start out, but after the first few weeks out the gate its pretty darn easy. Plant below is barely 4 over weeks old and started in a 7 gallon.

Ask specific questions and you will get answers. You asked one about growing without lights and got it answered...

The hard part with starting in a huge pot is watering. With no root system through the pot, it doesn't dry evenly, easy to overwater, etc. My opinion anyway.

We're talking England here - do you really get that much sunshine :-) Look, if they are essentially getting as much light as outdoors then sure. But's not a normal windowsill! Your expectations are minimal at 1/2 oz/plant. If you have decent sunlight, I see that as possible. It may be airy bud but pulling a half per plant is nothing....

Odor - you may live alone but do you never have anyone over who you don't want to know you grow? Repair person? Older friend? Work related?

Don't take this wrong, but many newbies come and don't really want answers, they want someone who takes growing seriously to tell them that their half assed scheme is okay. You won't get that. Most on the site that grow indoors feel like you need to make an investment in lights, a tent or grow area, fan, odor control if you want to grow. You can spend very little and get a boatload of CFLs on the plant....

Good luck!

Perhaps you missed where he said they were autos.
You were correct to plant them in their final pots because autos don't like any interruptions in their routines. It slows them down which stunts them. I know from experience.
Regardless you won't get much without some supplemental lighting. It almost pointless without it. The nutes will give it what it needs to grow but it needs that light energy as part of the equation.
