Wait till the 5th or 6th set of leaves appear( to allow a good root system to develop) and top above the 2nd true node to get 4 main colas

i top when i have enough plant matter to take a clone and leave 3-5 branches...or pinch when i have 3-5 branches forming.

some people grow single poles and remove the lower side branches, this is better with more plants and smaller pots closer together.

Most auto flowering strains do not like to be topped as it interrupts it's finite lifespan. Any plant that can be manipulated with the photoperiod will do fine with topping although sativa dominant plants can get very spindly and break under the weight of the flowers unless the side branches are supper cropped and strong or tied in place. My first atempt at topping a tall sativa resulted in a plant that needed to be either hung so the buds could dangle or be tied up, it ended up looking like some sort of ivy until the buds filled in... LOL

LOL. I have a feeling that's what's going to happen to the one that I've topped for my first go at it.

there's no reason that a plant like that couldn't produce good bud, it will just be hard to manage if there are space issues... The "ivy" plant that I had was just bag-seed and produced a bud that looked very similar to Jack Herer and the potency was quite high... Good luck Kizzurt!

(also don't forget that sativas take forever to flower completely, so don't get impatient. It's hard when you're waiting for 85-120 days for a tall sativa to finish flowering. So plant some sort of auto variety to keep you entertained while you wait for that lanky, snoopdogesque monster to finish)
