Topping outdoor in soil

Hello all I have a few questions so I topped my plant and I believe I got 4 new tops out of it if I'm not mistaken. Should I consider cutting the top fan leaves that are blocking most of the plant from getting sunlight

Would be this be a good technique after topping tieing branches away from.canopy

LST is ok, but I tend to allow it to grow a bit before I apply bondage.
Basically just allowing the canopy to spread out a bit.
It's pretty easy to get over-zealous and snap branches.
