Topping? Northern lights x skunk....

So heres the deal, i have 2 grow closets that are about 5ftx3ft, i just received some northern lights x skunk seeds. The information i got on these plants said they will grow to be about 100 cm, or around 3ft. Even though these are somewhat short, could i still top these plants to get a larger yield or should i sog it? 1000 w hps/mh. Good nutes, good soil, just no experience with northern lights. 3rd grow, still very new but got the hang of it, but cloudy on this topping issue. Confused on which way to go. Input appreciated. :bigjoint:

Personally, I top everything... but whether to scrog or top - that's gonna be a personal choice. I think scrog will give you more yield than topping... but that's my opinion.

I also had NL X SK and it turned out very tall almost 4 feet and it wasn't doing as well as the other strains I had going but it did go through some newbie mistakes which stressed the fuck out of her!! if I had my time back i would of topped her!

If you haven't, check out Uncle Ben's thread on topping - it's stickied in the Advanced section. I use his method, and get four main colas every time.

Oh, lol. Well, it's kind of strain dependant - some strains, like Blueberry, for instance - will only give you their full potential if you top them, whereas others may yield less if you top. My advice? Research the individual strain you want to grow, and find out what others say about it, see what's happened to topped and untopped plants. Or experiment for yourself, say 50/50. I would only do it that way, though, if it's a strain you're gonna keep growing.
