Topping a plant

is topping as easy as it sounds? just cut off the main stem near the top of the plant?

im a beginner and i read that topping can increase your yield by 2 or 3 and makes the plant grow less tall. this is perfect for my situation if i can do it.

also im about a week into flowering is it ok to do now?

Don't top in the flowering stage it will take away from your yield you would be cuting off your cola. Top in the veg stage.
