topped for the 1st time... did I do it right?

I followed the instuctions in the FAQ topping section. Did I do it right or should I have done something different?

Why did you cut off the top 4 fan leaves?

looks fine.

nope, you want to do it right above a node so that there are two inward growth shoots that will take the place of the main stalk.

I just cut the new growth coming off the main stalk and clipped the leaves under them because they were still small and blocknig light.

they don't "block" light, they "collect" light.

I meant blocking light from the inner growth. I thought that was the right way to do it.

first time i trimmed i did it by mistake. i snapped the whole stem!

all that is required is a snip down the middle of the stems new growth so that the stem shoots off in 2 directions rather than straight up.

about 5 days after topping...

Turn the plant 90 degrees and take another pic. The new growth might show up better. Hard to see in that pic.

its pretty thick so i tried to get a better angle of the new growth.
