Top turning black after topping

Hey guys,

Strain: Fruity Chronic Juice by Delicious Seeds
Lights: 12 x 23W CFLs. ~300W total
Soil: Osmocote premium potting mix -

So it's my first time growing and I've set up a little cabinet to grow a plant. It's been going really well and I'm about 3 weeks into vegging. Problem is, I topped my plant yesterday and today there's a black looking growth on the tip where I made the cut. It doesn't look healthy and I'm wondering if anyone has had this or knows what might be causing the problem. I sterilized the scissors that I used so I don't think it could be infection. Anyway, what do you think?

That's perfectly normal. The bit the plant will never use again is drying out.

She looks great!

It's the plants form of scabbing. It's sealing the break so the rest can grow stronger. No worries there.

So, the plant has been recovering well with lots of new shoots coming out from at and below where the plant was topped. The black part was "scabbing". Cheers to smokinrav and lahadaextranjera for letting me know what was up.

perfectly normal mate i topped my blue cheese looked exeactly like that ive now topped a blueberry 3 times same black top everytime my first time growing to bro good luck mate
