Top Ten Reasons I Am No Longer a Leftist

Dr. Danusha V. Goska's article is long and very much worth a full read. Here are a few excerpts.

"We rushed to cast everyone in one of three roles: victim, victimizer, or champion of the oppressed. We lived our lives in a constant state of outraged indignation."

"The left’s selective outrage convinced me that much canonical, left-wing feminism is not so much support for women, as it is a protest against Western, heterosexual men. It’s an “I hate” phenomenon, rather than an “I love” phenomenon."

"The leftist strategy of slandering those who speak uncomfortable facts suppresses discourse and has a devastating impact on confrontations with truth in journalism and on college campuses."

"In 2004, What’s the Matter with Kansas? spent eighteen weeks on the bestseller lists. The premise of the book: working people are too stupid to know what’s good for them, and so they vote conservative when they should be voting left."

"It’s more than a little bit weird that leftists, who describe themselves as the voice of the worker, select workers as their hated other of choice, and targets of their failed social engineering."

"Hang out in leftist internet environments, and you will discover a toxic bath of irrational hatred for the Judeo-Christian tradition."

"Those posting messages in this left-wing forum publicly announced that they did what they did every day, from voting to attending a rally to planning a life, because they wanted to destroy something, and because they hated someone, rather than because they wanted to build something, or because they loved someone."

Kansas is exactly what is wrong with GOP/Conservative policy of tax cuts. The state is in a death spiral and everybody but Brownback realizes it.

you got padawan although he seems to be nearly looping back round to other side now
Nah he's a liberal, he just seemed to support Bernie (social democrat) for a while. That doesn't make one an actual leftist or even really opposed to capitalism. It's actually just New Deal liberalism of the Keynesian persuasion. I'm not trying to insult that view, it is preferable to this protofascist wave which seems to have spread in your country too, even if to a much lesser extent than in the US. Strains of liberalism are all centrist.
