Top ten mistakes i made as a newbie first time grower

1. bought shit clones.
2. didn't have my grow area setup.
3. did not regulate my air temp and humidity.
4. used a hps instead of MH in veg.
5. let veg run too long, plants tall.
6. Did not have an area setup to take clones in veg.(18/6 vs 12/12)
7. did not use 1teaspoon molasses per gallon in watering in veg.
8. did not have air recirculation dialed in, buy a fan or two.
9. snow outside, room cold, need heater & humidifier to 78 degrees and 50% humidity.
10. bought cfl, hps, led, and t5 lights.
For god's sake, buy a 6 or 8 banger t5 adjust height on a light meter per lux. Use 6500k in veg, 2700k in bloom. use a light meter. use a soil moisture meter. use good water like reverse osmosis carbon filter 7.0 ph water from the stupid water machine in front of stater brothers grocery store. run flower 12/12 from 9am to 9pm, not 9pm to 9am.forsoil growers i like fox farm, they are all the same bitches, just follow the instructions on the label!

why run flower from 9am to 9pm? I think it's better running lights at night when it's colder especially if you say its winter and cold. Why not run it 3am to 3pm flowers don't care as long as it's 12 hours of light.

FYI you really should buy a ph meter also

yeah i wanted to run lights at night so i could generate a little more heat, but i go to bed at 10 and get up at 9 so it's odd hours to work on my girls. I think 12 to 12 would have been better. I have a soil ph meter but am unsure of accuracy, so yes even a cheap digital hanna meter for soil probe would have been good

Molasses help max your ppm without the 'dangers' of just giving them straight nutrients. Most "Hydro Carbs" or "Honey Carbs" are just molasses premixed as nutrients. Think of your regular plant food as cheerios, and the molasses adds a little bit of sugar to them. :-)

Do soil growers need to worry about max pm as much as hydro or aero?
I am doing aero my next run.

#4 #7 and the reverse osmosis filter will not make much of a difference..but it sounds like ur gaining knowledge..good luck with ur future grows

#4 i think is why my plants are so skinny.
#7 is personal preference, no scientific evidence.
as far as water goes i just want water without chlorine, next run i will get a nice filtration system. the water at the big water tank at stater brothers is 25 cents a gallon, tested 0ppm and 7.0 ph

molasses will make ur buds fatter but not ur plant..if u want thicker branches i suggest getting a sea weed extract or if u understand NPK and what they do for ur plant u might wanna up the P in veg to get thicker branches..hps vs mh is non debatable..hps clowns on mh's even in veg..if ur complaining about ur plants being to skinny then dont switch to a mh cuz the hps will make ur branching stonger and thicker..reverse osmosis filter is a good idea but wont make much of a difference

@Wilsonjanitorial-im assuming ur using fox farm soil as well right?? lots of people say dont feed for 2-4weeks when using FF soil but i always start to feed after the 2nd time i water..just start with 1/2 to 1/4 strength and see how they react to it

The above is 4 star advice.
fox farm or ocean harvest 2-3 weeks planted before first nutes, learn to read your plants.
start half nutes then stronger
