top or not to top

I have been reading lots of posts on this site. My first grow I did not top. My girls have out done me in overall size. I really like what I have read on sog. I thought for my second grow I would start a sog. I haven't read anything about topping and sog. Instincts say not to top. I am ready to take my clones off the t5 rack and into veg tent anytime. Well, tomorrow. So, sea of green, top or not to top?

Preference, really. You could have less plants, topped, taking a bit longer to veg, and end up with the same number of main colas(and yield, approx) as if you skipped the topping, and packed a higher number of plants together, vegged for a little less time(topping delays veg, due to the necessary recovery time, afterwards).

perfect answer right there.. and i thought that i would just add in that sometimes topping is very strain dependent, some take to it much better than others do.. if you have a few of the same plants, and you're planning on running them for awhile, top a few of them and leave a few of them untopped and see which ones you like better..
and you can always check out ub's topping technique to get two or four main cola's thread on here if you haven't already.. the first few pages are all you really need to read to get a good grasp on topping..

I will check out Ub's thread. I think for now I will skip the topping for now. I am not edgamakated on do's and don'ts per strain. But in due time I will play. Definatly big thanx for the input and lead.
