Top of main stem completely broke off, I'm trying making a clone.Am I doing it right?

Hey guys, I had an accident while LST'ing the plant - I bent it too much and top 5cm of the stem broke off. I took the top and put it in some water on the window sill. I am hoping I will get some roots after some time. The pics were taken just now, on day 3rd of trying to get a clone. Am I doing everything right? Any suggestions? Also maybe I should cut the bottom leaves off? Can you get roots out of the the top of the main stem that broke off? Cheers! (It's my first grow, the other girl is doing brilliantly, though the one without the top not as well )

Can't the plant spread roots in water? Well, can the top of the main stem even be a clone? And should I cut off the bottom leaves?

i wish i could offer help, but i havent cloned yet(rockwool and clonex sitting on the shelf waiting for me,lol)

the top of the main stem can be a clone but u will have a better chance with rooting solution and a grow medium. it also usually takes 2 - 3 times longer for it to root than if it were one of the lower branches. u dont need to cut the bottom leaves off, if they start to turn yellow usually that means its trying to root. cut off or trim the leaves once they turn brown and die.

no thats not gonna work.
you should try to dip it in some clonex or olivias gel or something then into some dirt or rockwool.
before you dip it make sure you cut it with a sharp razor or scissor at 45º

make sure u keep high humidity (misting and humidity dome) dome can be made by a large pot that it sits in with celafane over top blow in it twice a day to reduce chances of mold also cut a lot more of your plants vegitive growth off u dont want it to have to try and keep too much of it alive its also good to fold the leaves up in your hand and cut off the ends so the remaining leaves are like half leaves they will clone in just water but takes too long so u should get a rooting hormone what supply stores are near you home depot hydro stores nursuries ace hardware and do u use any light for them u should use 24 hour cfl or florecent

are you kidding me? Fist off, You cannot just take a clone and stick it in water. Won't work at all. Second, you cutt at a 45 degree angle, you then need a rooting hormone such as explained above "clonex" or any other type will do fine. Just make sure its a rooting hormone. Then you must put into a medium, such as soil or for hydro, rockwool or oasis cubes. THen you most definetly want to cutt off the lower leaves. Only leave about 2 or 3 leaves on that are from the top. cut all the rest off. then cut off the tips of the leaves you left on. The reason you snip the tips and cutt off the lower leaves, is so the Newly cutt plant (clone) will need every bit of energy to put towards producing a root system. Therfore you don't want the extra leaves to take up some of the energy that could be used for rooting. You then want them to be in 80-90 percent humidity. I personally use a cloneing tray that has a humidity dome on top. and i just mist it twice a day and have almost had 100 percent success. But then again everyones got thier own technique, and some might not work for others. But what i stated above is a must do. Hope this helps.
