Top Dressing and Bud Candy/Sucanat

Okay everybody,

I wanted my first question to be a good one, out of respect to all the hard work and excellent feedback found throughout this site and other forums. Seriously, I've gotten to day 22 of Flowering with amazing looking plants with *your* help. Cheers.

So, I've tried finding this topic to no avail. Hence, I figured I could debut with something that is not too asinine--even for a noob.

Day 30 of flowering is approaching and I am running Pandora's box in 5 gallon smart pots, about 1/2 SS and roots/FFLW. I am anticipating the need to top dress because these girls are pretty huge. They vegged 30 days in SS and about 24-28 days in 1 gallon containers. I've got the SS ready to go, 2"-3". The question I have regards the application of Bud Candy and sucanat. I want to use 1tsp BC + 1tsp sucanat per 1 gallon of water. Does the topdressing affect applying this "feeding?"

My "Stephen Colbert Gut" tells me to top dress at Day 30 and water. Then, the next day feed with the BC/Sucanat. That way the plants aren't bone dry, as Subcool said in the video, but at least had a chance to adjust to the top feeding. I just feel like watering with sugar at the same time as applying more SS would be too much. Is this assumption unfounded? Should I wait longer?

I would then feed once again around Day 45 or so.

Again, thanks to everyone for getting me this far. For my first grow, I am so excited...the cheshire grin is appearing before even sampling the beautiful buds.

I've got my grow log started in the Rhode Island section.

Take care and nourish those minds!

Sugars won't hurt at all but I would wait myself people tend to apply sugars to early mainly because all the nutrient companies selling the bottles say to use liberally in flowering and I disagree.
While it may help feed the soil web it tends to make the plants fade out a bit early.

Thanks for the tip Sub! I use both of these products, and wondered about BC's usage with SSoil. Its recommended for use up until wk 6 of flowering, but I'm sure that would be too much with your already hot Soil, is that what you're saying...?

btw Sucanat in coffee is the best Shit goin' early mornin' Thanks for the Tip! ATB!

the thing i see a big problem with overusing the sugars is youd over load the container and your soil would be as aerated and thats the bacteria you want aerobic not anaerobic

I think the sugars give the micro's and the soil web a boost but as sub said, its short lived. I annalogize it to a sugar high, it can be useful and really give a person the extra needed energy to finish strong BUT if you start the game off with a gut of sugar your doomed and plants are the same way, maybe consider doing it in the last 2 1/2 weeks when the final stacking occurs.
