Top Cola Harvest?

I have been growing out the pictured A.M.S for 7 weeks. Suggested time to harvest is 8 weeks and 9 weeks for full potential according to Green House Seeds. I am getting tired of smoking this bagseed I have and I want to either harvest this AMS at 7 weeks or partial harvest just the top and let the buds beneath the cut line beef up and harvest the rest of the plant at 9 weeks. Would this stress the plant out too much? Should I just harvest the whole thing? I have 5 other strains going that I am going to wait as long as it takes for them to finish - but I want the AMS now.

What do you guys think? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

keep the top going and smukky the side colas.
I thought about that, they are minimal at most in size. I have not checked their trich's either - the top is like mostly cloudy and a few clear. I am not into the couch lock stone so that is why I want the top.

lol, i feel ya brotha. I couldn't help taking small cuttings to smoke. I keep going after the lowest smallest branch and I grab just a tiny bit at a time. It calms me down, but the first couple of times it's also a bit of a disappointment The cool thing is, you're pre-tasting the weed and you'll really notice the increase in potency from week to week.

Just take a tiny bit to get you through the moment.

Lol yeah same here. Well last thursday I plucked off a bunch of really small buds from the lowest nodes. After doing this the buds one level above the buds I removed plumped up a bit. I've been drying them since then and I just now smoked some - I really enjoy it, definitely a head high - wouldn say soaring but mellow-relax-ified. Only downside is that without much of a cure they have that "green" taste but not horrible and definitely not harsh, just greenish...Definitely needs to be cured nicely.

Anyway so I figure take the top and the rest of the buds will fatten up and should make about 6-8 really nice nugs. But I was not sure what the result would be in cutting the main stem...I'm guessing it is ok, plants are pretty resilient but you never know.

IF i were to make a guess i'd think that if you cut off that sexy colla your plant could POSSIBLY go into shock.
if you really HAVE to id take some bottom ones. but WTF do i know? you learn from your mistakes right? you just have to know you are taking a small risk but then again you do have other plants :)
do what you need.

lol that picture made me smile btw..

You can cut it off and the rest will still grow fine. Apparently no one else has ever heard of a double harvest.

do you just cut it off and pack a bowl with it? or do you let it sit for a day or to dry out some?

I'm going to dry it for 5-7 days and then cure it for a week before even thinking about smoking it.

This is what I thought but I wasn't sure if the plant was going to go into shock. I have many other plants so its not like if this goes bad I'm screwed. The top cola is hella nice looking though and a shame to cut early but I need some good herb!

patience grasshopper, let mother nature do her magic. the difference between the early harvest and the mature harvest is huge.the trick is to have another plant a few weeks behind this one and get a perpetual harvest going. patience friend, the rewards are always worth it
