Top Buds Vs Bottom Buds

Hello,

I have a sativa in the flowering stage - my friend said it had began flowering about 4 weeks before she gave it to me. She did not have any equip. it was just in her kitchen by a window. The buds on top much bigger than the lower buds which I know is normal. One of the very top buds has 95% red hairs but under the microscope the trichomes still look mostly clear. Should I just test that one bud and see what happens? Or should I leave it? According to what my friend told me I would be 5-6 weeks into the flowering cycle.

I have a feeling this harvest is going to be somewhat of a dud, but I am really interestes in taking clones and then re harvesting this plant is possible. I have three weeks until I can go to the grow shop so I am trying to figure it out here but it is kind of hard, I am going to see if I can get some good enough pics that will illustrate my situation.

Also, I think I overwatered her a little yesterday so she is looking a little droopy :sad:

that plant doesn't look ready to me. be patient and let it go to at least 9 weeks. as for the cloning, you have get the plant back to a veg cycle in order to do that, and after it being 5-6 week into flower i don't think that would work out too well considering the plant's life cycle is almost complete

i dont wana be the one to tell u .. looks like there some seeding going on th ebottom branches.. so probably a bag seed. that hermid and pollinated itself.. but id jus let it keep going for a while.. till u see cloudy trichs atleast.. hair has nothing to do with it .. could be heat .. water or pollination to turn the hairs.. and some strains have red hairs pink hairs or white hairs.. i have a plant that doesnt turn any hairs until its been cut.. but the trichs are cloudy and amber? and if u wana reveg the plant.. id say wen ur ready to harvest .. cut off the big buds.. and leave some little buds .. and then put under a diff light cycle to reveg.. if u harvest to much it will be harder to reveg;.. if u want u can always .. take a bud.. off and root it .. and that will eventually reveg and take right off.. btu to be honest with u .. if ur going to spend the time effort and money on equipment setting it up .. nutes and all.. i say spend 100 bucks and buy some seeds from a seedbank.. and work with good genetics.. i will never pull a seed out of a bag i buy anymore.. only pull seeds out of bud i grew and i kno who the father.. or hermifather is .. and i have plants that look amazing but shoot out nanners if u let em go a week past wen its around 75 cloudy 25 amber... it will start to toss nanners around 50% amber.. wierd .. eh.. seriously bag seeds are mainly going to produce females that are hermi prone unless u getsome seeds from a guy thats growing and breeding with a paintbrush and got a little rogue pollen flying around the room .. iunoo good luck


aND to answer the question.. top bud or main cola will usually be done before the bottom buds.. so use a scope to tell wen done if its bag seed. depending on were it came from it could take anywere to 14 weeksor more to flower. if a sativa dom or full sativa.. it looks more like a mix to me so anywwere from 7-12 weeks id say for flower.

Don't let one opinion stop you from trying to get clones from this plant. I have taken clones from a plant the same day I harvested it and they have rooted and went back to veg. This method of cloning takes time It would be about 5 - 6 weeks before they are in full veg again If you have the time and patience It's worth a try.

Thank you for all the info... I was worried that those were seedlings.. I was looing at getting some feminized seeds, I think your right I am so happy I can finally grow LEGALLY!! My friend giving me that plant is what pushed me over to finally doing my paperwork and the research. I will probably let this one go and then start my next grow out right. Do you think I need to worry if I grow the next seeds in the same room as far as my current plants pollen getting stuck in there and possibly fertilizing future females???

Good news, I went to the plant store yesterday, exchanged my original 125w floro and picked up a 400w metal halide and ballast... showed the guy there my most recent pics 11812 (2).jpg11812 (3).jpg11812 (1).jpg

He said my plant is a female not a hermie! Now, I feel more confident in my lighting especially for growing more than one plant and then when I upgrade I will keep this for my Mother plant!

well yea, metal halide isnt great for flowering, should have picked up a high pressure sodium bulb.
that plant looks yummy, but its still way too early, let it keep going. dont even look at the hairs (pistils), its all about trichomes.
clones.... i love taking them, its great, but at this point in the plant's life, it will be a bad idea. once its in flowering, when you take a clone your making switch back to vegetative growth, which confuses the plant and could shock it, or it could just die.

Anyways, id give it some more weeks, get super high, and your already set up for the next grow

I talked to the guy there and the reason I went this way is because with my next grow I will choose a mother plant and keep her under the halide 18hrs a day, and then move my other 5 to a new setup. Im thinking an indoor green house, or I might just have the perfect room in my house that I can transform... so there is a method to my madness:weed:
