Tooo close??

Hey guys stoppin' in for a quick question!
150w hps and the tops are about 3" 4" inches away from the bulb, just wondering if this is ok? Lookin to see how ''close'' people get theirs at a comparable watt ratio. I have a good fan directly on my light and across the top's so heat hasent been an issue so far.(yes i've done the whole "too warm for your hand, too warm for the plants" thing) I didnt seem to find anything in any other thread about this particular question so I figure I'd turn to you guys for some personal info! Pics & whatever else greatly appreciated!! +rep!

I have a 150 watt hps too and my plants are about 3 inches tall
My light is about 3 feet away I was thinkning about putting it closer but there growing just fine
idk check my journal out, you can see it

rule of thumb is too hot for the back of your hand then its too hot for your babies. Also you can just check the temp near the top and try to keep it under 85

i use my fore arm length for years.......

I just checked on my 1000's over my babies and they are 10 inches. I can put my face on the glass of the light and hold it there though......

I Keep the light as close as you can with out burning. For a 150 hps the max I would put it above it is 10 in.

You have a air-cooled hood and tempered glass. His 150w likely does not.

This!! I have one in my veg room with my air-cooled 400w MH to help make my light footprint bigger. I keep my 150w at least 10 - 12" over the plants. It puts out a lot more heat than the 400w hood does.

Thanks for all the reply's. I did forget to mention one thing, they are 3 weeks into flower, if that makes any difference.
