Yes If this site had an hour counter, mine would be up there. I love seeing all the shares and journals. Never seen a community like this!

These are deff not the final pots. I was lead to by ether 2 or 3 gallon smart fabric pots. Once they recover I will be transplanting. Not sure how many days that'll be considering my growth seems to have slowed down.. =\

Thank you for your photo share and info! Ill cut the distilled water out. Back to using the tap I left out over night. Def. need my meters to come in the dang mail asap!
Meters and gadgets are cool.

Ill give a good piece of advice.
KISS. Keep It Super Simple or Keep It Stupid Simple.

With a lot of things being new you will be flooded with tips, advice and want to try your meters out.

I would keep it simple as possible. Don't freak out over problems. Don't try the shotgun approach to problems (throw a bunch of things at it and hope one works).

With soil pH is not as important as hydro. As long as the water source has close to the pH it will be OK.

Soil buffers pH. The pH also swings as the soil dries. It allows for proper nutrient uptake. Not all nutrients are readily available at the same pH.

Also don't worry if your run off pH is off from the input by quit a bit. Salts in nutrients, among other things, effect how a pH meter reads.

I know I'm rambling.

Keep it simple make small corrections and give it a few days before doing something else. You will enjoy the growing process a lot more.

Rambling or not, you said the best piece of advice. K I S S, Keep it simple sunshine. Soil is much simpler and easier to grow with as a medium, for beginners I'd suggest starting there, then as you gain experience move to hyrdo. It's a great way to learn and won't cost you a ton of money to get started.

When I ran a DWC I used distilled water. Trying to use tap water, bottled spring water never worked out well.
I use tap water for my soil grows, unlike others I don't let it sit out over night or anything. Straight from faucet to measuring cup to plant. Been doing good for me so far.
Tap doesn't always work. I have a 550 gallon rain catch. I am close to the water plant. Tap is not good for the plants.

I'm thinking about digging a well. The chlorine actually burns your skin when taking a shower it is so strong.

Yikes, that's some harsh water.
Tap water is going to vary depending on where you live. That's why I put the "unlike others I don't let it sit" Some areas you're going to have to, I just happened to get lucky with my tap water. I did a test one time, just went a head and tried it, picked one plant and gave her straight tap water. She seemed happy, no issues so I count my lucky stars.

I appreciate the wisdom very much! Thank you! I have overwhelmed myself with info and need to KISS. Much appreciated.

Ya tap quality is important to consider,if its too hard or loaded with chloromines then r/o is an option, but then it should never be used without nutrients added.

My tap is 40ppm,so I have to treat it like r/o.I add 100pm of cal/mag.If im using water alone.

Neighbor of mine insisted I start from seed and in soil.

He gave me little guidance At first so I could teach myself and learn. He's converting me to his hydro and starting with his clones in a couple of months if I prove worthy :)

image.jpeg image.jpeg some stems yellow green
Some red
Some have a combo! Lol

Looks like the yellow is fading back to green slowly. I'm going to assume since these pots are made of peat moss that this happened from under watering. Plus not having strips to test and using distilled.

I've read it strips N. Most important nute in this stage. Must have slowed the growth as well.

Temp 81
RH 55

Your CFL looks like 2700k ( warm ) SWAP them to 5000k ( daylight white ).
ECOSMART 5000k or Feint Electric 6400k

I start using these to " set " the seedlings to root. One lamp then two.
Never had a problem. Straight potting mix ( FFOF ) , misted watering only.
Until 2nd or 3rd node growth.

Also a simple humidity dome during sprouting , helps a lot .
A simple light misting of water , then place cover and leave it for a day or two.

Seedlings love them.

Getting DAYLIGHT bulbs is rather easy ... Locally. They are at Home Depot , Walmart and Big Lots.

With a little snooping around i found 150w Equiv bulbs ( 42w draw ) 6400k for like 8 bucks.

Typical details : on box

This single pack compact fluorescent bulb replaces a 150 watt incandescent bulb while using only 42 watts. This CFL uses up to 79% less energy and lasts up to 8 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs.

  • Color temperature: 6500K
  • Life: 7.3 years/8,000 hours
  • Base: medium
  • Energy used: 40 watts
  • Lumens: 2800
  • Saves $139 in energy costs
  • Energy efficient
  • RoHS Compliant
  • Non-dimmable
Most growers shine off CFL growing , i still do it for shits and giggles and like the no fuss aspect of it. I am jumping on the COB DIY train also , but still like growing this way.

This is an Auto Bubblegum ( straight CFL ) growing Hempy Bucket style.
Day 53 - it will work just fine if you just stick with the basics .
I built a CFL HOOD and use supplemental lighting.

I'm an organic soil guy. Water only from start to finish.
