Too much light....

It might be a little overkill for a 3x3, but I'm no expert. I'm testing out some quantum boards now in a 3x8 and have 850 watts running. It's bright as fuck in there, and next round I'm going to try 500 watts of quantum board power with 630 watts of cmh. I added a couple small quantum boards around one cmh light over one plant last time closer to the end of its cycle and it was pretty impressive. I got double off that plant than any other yet, but it was a different strain.

So I have a 3x3 tent growing one massive plant... I started out in veg with four Vero 29B cobs, around 290 watts...

Now I’m in my second week of flower and I added two QB301H with red boards 240 watts...

Little over kill?
540watts for a 3X3 is 60w/Ft2. Yourevat the upper limits, damn close to overkill. Dim them both to half power or even smarter, bring the QBs underneath the canopy facing upwards and blast that "would be" larf, in to some dankness.

Funny enough I did just dial with light back 25% roughly... but putting them underneath, that’s an interesting concept.. have you tried this?

I try to keep VPD and leaf temps happy.

Running 880 mixed over a 4x4 w/co2. Some foxtailing last time I ran with the full 880watts. No biggie.

When running my light schedule I like to be on the upper end of “bright” but my lights are 3 to 6 years old and not quite as efficient as currently available products.

What height did you use when you started the grow (and what now?), did you just blast them full 290W from the start or?

Well before she went in to the 3x3 I started her in a 2x3 makeshift tent with 2 QB301b boards and those in veg where running around 75-80% at 24-26”

I transplanted in to the 15 gal pot and kept her in there until she was a little too tight and I had 6 auto’s In 3 gal pots better suit for this 2x3 area...

Anyway when I moved her to the 3x3 tent she was still in veg with the cobs at 80% @ 24”, two weeks later I flipped her. One week and half weeks in to flower I added the new QB301H with red boards.

So what I’ve done now, I have the lights about 16” off the canopy, the QB boards are running 100% and the cobs which are moved outwards towards the corners are at 50-60%.

I believe I’m in the 380-400 watt range now.

I’m not running co2 and after leaving the lights on full power for 6 hours I could see some minor bleaching of the top leafs so that’s why I dialed her back.

My concern now is I’ll run out of clearance in the tent and the cobs take up more room, if this Happens I’ll remove the cobs and add the QB301b boards in with the QB301H.
Ever without the red I’ll be able to gain 3-4 inches.
