Too much iron?

I have a high iron content in my well water. I have a indoor hydro set up for my mom's and they are looking hurt. I have 60 gallons that has air stones and circ pump. Occasionally I add Epsom salts as I heard that would help combat the iron? I wanted to post pics for opinions on if it is an iron issue or not. I may be battling too much iron only to find out it's something else. One strain seems to be more resilient than the other two

I'm no expert so take this with a grain of salt.

It looks like one of my plants that had bad root issues. I am in soil and it took months for it to pull out of it. How are the roots?

It looks like multiple issues. Too much Iron can effect the uptake of Zinc, Phosphate, Copper, Manganese and Calcium.

How is the ph of your water?

Have you tried using another water source to see if it is the Iron in your water?

In my unprofessional experience that looks like a Cal/mag issue. Most likely your well water doesn't contain much or any.

I don't think its a Cal problem. It seems too randomly spread.
Could be a root problem as they can look like anything..
Could also be phosphorus deficiency as a side effect of too much iron.

It would also help to know your res PH to help the process of elimination.

I have never had spider mites so forgive me if I'm way off but those leaves do seem to have signs, especially the one in your hand

Interesting. I did not get any notices that there were replies. Butchboy was right about the roots. They looked like yellow snot and not strong healthy roots one would expect. The hydro set up is relatively knew to me, so I am sure I am not doing something incorrectly. I am leaning towards needing more air in the water tank. And yes, coreywebster, I do have spider mites in these plants. I was battling them and thought they were the cause of all my issues. I now have them under control (spraying every other day and alternating between Method1 and Neem).

I am going to add airstones to both the water tank as well as the bottom of each pot its self. We will see if that helps with the roots after 2 months. if they are still this sad then I am going back to all soil. I have 10 plants in 10gal smart pots using a living soil technique. Those are healthy, happy, and low maintenance. I have been preventatively treating those for spider mites once a week so my infestation does not carry into my other room. So far so good.

Test your well water...
