Too much heat! P600 Platinum light, 2 x 4 space

My 315 gets the tent from 21.5 to 25.7 at full power for the duration. You need a better light (That is 78 F max temp), I do run a 6 inch vortex fan with a filter and that is what keeps the heat where it is. I may go to a 400 watt CMH because it is liveable and has better coverage !

I get that but at the same time that's the issue. Cheap shitty fixtures are less efficient than even t5 and create more heat.

That may be the thing. There is no help. Its a crappy, hot running fixture.

My citizen cobs run cool to he touch. I actually need heat.

Though I still think the ops fixture should still be running a little cooler.

Im sure a viparspectra is worse than a platinum though. I still got a half decent plant out of the vipar.
I agree that 28'C is too high. But realistically they'll still get a smoke out of it in the end.
Its also a great opportunity to learn about light / enviroment. So they make an excellent future purchase.
I just think the way others, instantly shat on it was a bit rough. OP probably just bought it new, a few days ago.
I think some, need to be more optimistic.

If it was bought new a few days ago it needs to be returned.

A 200 or 300 diy citizen cob kit can be had for 200-300 bucks. Probably less if parts are bought separate on sale.

If there is any way to return I would instead of fighting the heat.

Something just sounds really wrong to be using a.c. and it still that hot.

I know id be going the hps route, than the diy though. Very beginner friendly too.

You got a link for a good diy light that would cover a 4x4 tent. Right now i have like 3 different lights im using just to make it all happen. All the light companies exaggerate and say it covers a 4x4 when really it only covers a 2x2. Thats how i ended up with 3 oddball lights and 3 cords looking like spaghetti. I really just want 1 nice light.

You will want 400-600 watts of cob then. I run 200 in a 2x4 and it does great.

Just was on cobkits.com and I couldn't find anything that was a kit. looks like you have to buy everything separate and of course you'd need to know what parts to buy(which I don't). I think I'll leave well enuff alone and stick with the l.e.d's that I already own. lol But thanks anyways for trying to point me in the right direction.

The timber kits are about as good as it gets as far as price. I would jus get the 200 watt citizen kit for $200. Get one at at time as funds allow.

The timber kits are prewired and plug and play. You just have to build a frame to hang them.

Cobs are the way to go.

If you want diodes go with unit farm. I have thier ufo80 and its 175 watts and geared for a 3x3. Its a great light with cree and osram diodes. I'm sure it would light a 3x3 fine. Thier ufo 120 would go good in a 4x4.

The best help someone can get is realizing they made a mistake when buying lights and buy a quality light.. If you buy a screw driver cause you have to pound some nails, the person who tells you to get a hammer is helpful, the person who tells you how to use your screw driver like a hammer is not.

Maybe.
Though using a shit hammer, is still teaching yoursef how to use a hammer.
Then using a good one, is that much easier.
He's got the light. Its a great opportunity to learn about lighting.
It'll make his future purchase, a wise one too.

Absolutely. Been running my Timber 200 w Cree for 2 years now... ZERO heat issues, big phat nugs. 32x32x63 tent. 4" inline fan w/ scrub.

Im sure a lot of new growers starting out appreciate being able to buy cheap light while getting started. Not everybody has a lot of money to buy everything top of the line at first. I started out with a cfl in the laundry room. I worked my way up to a tent, then a cheap led, then a cheap cob, then a better cob. I like the fact that i now have an emergency back up light just in case i wake up one morning and find my good light has puked. I use my cheap led for my veg tent. It all works out.

Shit you learn a lot about light that way too.
