Too many Fan leaves?

Can too many fan leaves cut down on buds? I have a plant that is so bushy. Should I let her go or trim some of the larger leaves. Here is a pic. She is 8 weeks old, and she is 3 1/2 ft. tall.

I got a few bushier and i will not cut a leaf I just pic off dead leaves underneath. Imo let her go then harvest twice for the lower branches let them stay on plant longer. Dirrtyd

If you want big plants then let them grow without interference. Just give them what they need, lots of sunshine and feed the soil.

Fan leaves are biological solar panels.

I would say don't ever cut the fan leaves off unless you need to keep them smaller for some reason. Those are the food factories of your plant. If you are worried about the lower plant not being able to get enough sunlight, then just cut off the branches at the bottom two or three nodes, so that the focus of the plants energy is the well-lit top. I don't know if i would do this if the plant is already flowering. You probably want a little veg time after the cut, so the plant can fully recover. If you want good weed then you need a healthy plant. If you do need to trim just don't over-do it.

I did some LSTing on my plants today, i pulled off a couple sets of leaves on the bottoms, would it have been better to just leave them alone. Heres a pic Pentagram.jpg

I have done a comparison where I pruned one crop to allow for more light penetration and one crop for which I did not. I can tell you based on my experience do NOT chop off any fan leaves. What the others say is true. As it became evident to me they are in fact the solar panels of the buds. The yield will be bigger.

that fucking sucks, i feel like a jackass for making so much space in the middle of my plant when it already gets plenty of light. Hopefully all of my buds are fat donkey dicks at least

Hey Gr33ncrack. You'll be alright. That plant looks good and healthy. Just don't get anxious and trim any more off of it. No stress! Hope this helps.

If a plant gets too crowded it can cut down on your yield. I let my indoor plants go 3 weeks into bloom without removing any leaves then I hack off every single large fan leaf. The plants dont need the fan leaves that far into bloom like they do in veg. SOG my yields have been higher and a lot less popcorn buds.

you could allways tie the fan leaves out the way if there covering bud sites, dont cut any though.

have you seen LST? i would tie a few legs outwards it works nicely

I still dont get why everyone thinks cutting the fan leaves hurts when in fact , if done at the correct time, it improves yield dramatically. Picture above should say a thousand words. Those plants yielded 28-32 grams per plant at 4 plants per SQ foot. Try and get those numbers or any where close to that in a crowded space. Of course this guy is outdoors but I still dont see why it wouldnt apply outdoors if you have a very thick plant like that. I know a few of the big dogs growing 6-10 lbs trees trim lots of their leaves off after they are in bloom to get more light to bud sites.

my plants have huge fan leaves also...bigger than my hands, i only trim the wilting or slightly yellowish leaves on the inside of the plant and the ones at the bottom of the plant..
Basically if the leaves are healthy and green i wouldnt touch them

what if you pull clones off a plant and then 12 it is dat bad
Pull your clones, give it at least 2/3 weeks more VEG. time to regrow new budding sites, (what you cut will replace itself), then, when you think it's time, go for the 12/12. Good luck & good grow.......BB
