I bought a 600 watt ballast and reflector w/bulb several years ago with no problems other than the reflector was damaged. It just shows you how marked up stuff from China is. Home Depot is finally offering make in America wall sockets since so many people are buying their hardware online. Check out the prices on the direct from China via Ebay T5 sockets... 10 for just over 4 bucks. They are the green and white ones that hold up better than what comes on most T5 fixtures.
1000 bulbs has great prices on a lot of their stuff but they charge over $5 for a shunted T5 socket. No wonder retailers have been making record profits.
