Only did the 3 OKC today, it wasn’t too bad. Next weekend I’ll do the Bubble Head, that will be a 2-3 day job. Used to love to smoke the scissor hash from trimming, but I don’t smoke anymore so I usually give it away to friends.
Ah, wife made me quit tokin also. (Sneak one here and there)
She ain't gonna make me quit growing tho.

Working on a project to get running. It's quite the stupid idea but I'm hoping to do a small grow.

I had to stop for health reasons, but to be honest, I never thought I would. Over 40 years of smoking high end stuff. Now I smoke, I feel like shit (lungs) for 3 days. At 66, I shouldn't be smoking anyway. I’ll do 1 volcano bag once a crop, so I can tell people what to expect. Passed that, I’ll make gummies and have one most nights to help me sleep- but it’s surely not the same, definitely not as enjoyable and the high is obviously different.

I am almost as old as you. I had a bad experience with brownies and Mexican brick in the late 70s. I will re think that if I can't smoke because of health issues in the future. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

I mostly stopped inhaling cannabis several years ago, when I found I no longer had the hankerin' for "puff-puff, oh, fuck, I'm HIGH!" I made brownies for awhile (no oil, just grind the herb in a coffee grinder until it is flour consistency), but found the dosing to be somewhat problematic. One ounce of 18% outdoor goes for $26 here right now. An ounce of said weed in a double batch of Gihradelli (however that's spelled) brownies cut into 100 thumb sized portions means 50mg of THC per thumb sized portion. Yikes!

Then I found RSO. My medicine. Much easier to dose, much easier to acquire (legal state, RSO is readily available at $12 to $20 a gram). I put it in #1 hard gelatin capsules and down the hatch she goes. If I were growing again, I would learn to cook my own super clean RSO. There are some very informative tutorials on line that even walk you through techniques for "salting" all the waxes and lipids out of your product.

Even so, as with ANY ingestible cannabis, know your tolerance. Over smoking is one thing, over ingesting is a completely different ball of wax. Nothing like a four hour chemical ego-ectomy to really fuck with your evening.

Rather than talk about my own recent edible experiences, I'll share one from the early 80's. I had made a batch of brownies using Nevil's NL 5 X 2, one of the best strains I ever grew and/or smoked.. They were so strong, I ended up puking in the parking lot of a movie theatre after eating one and soon after passed out after being dropped off back home. They were so overly potent, you just couldn't function.

Long story short, I wanted them gone so I cut them into normal brownie size pieces, wrapped them up and a few days later dropped them off at a friends, with a warning- be very careful with these as they are beyond potent. Anyway, he put them in the freezer and about a week later, he left to go visit his parents in another state. He had birds and a dog, so another friend watched the house for the weekend and guess what- after hitting the bars and arriving home drunk and hungry- he found the brownies and preceeded to eat a couple of them in a drunkin stuper.

Anyway, my friend came home to find his friend, on the couch, still past out 2 days later. Other than peeing a few times in a cup by the couch, he basically couldn't leave the couch. We still laugh about it to this day, but it makes me nauseous, even now, just thinking about them.

Just a few updates.............

After 4 days of drying, I trimmed the OKC up some more (mainlly removing more stems) and put everything in a large tupperware container. That will remain opened with continued turning for at least another 4-6 days, then I'll start closing and burping everything thru a longer curing process. Total weight right now is exactly 15 oz, off the 3 plants but I expect to lose another 2-3 oz with more drying. They definitely weigh more than I expected, but it wasn't about their size (which is small), but bud density is quite nice. 4 oz a plant would be great with these, as it wasn't expected...........

Regarding the Bubble Head, which is still in the room finishing up, I can see their water uptake is slowing, which is a telltale sign they are slowing down and nearly done. These buds are much bigger size wise than the OKC, and I expect they'll take longer to dry. I'm looking at a long weekend, cutting 10 plants a day (Sat/Sun) with a complete cleanup on Monday. I'll start the new seeds of Ethos "Thug Roze" Sunday or Monday and they'll go in the ground probably on Wed. If I'm not ready but the sprouts are, I'll put them in the fridge for a day which will slow them a bit until I'm ready. I'll start 30 seeds and pick the best and fastest growing 24.

Also, it's interesting I'm finding people are changing their smoke desires. While most people have wanted indica's since the 80's, the last few years most now want sativa's or sativa hybrids......... I attribute this to doing more business with women now then men. My largest customer, who takes 2-3 lbs. every 3 months, is a woman and they now account for about 65% of my business. Never really thought about it before, but it's a fact.

Every crop I try to guess what the final yield will be..........my guess right now is high 80's to 90's somewhere, but my guesses are normally under where I end up. The Bubble Head are very dense, the breeder nailed that and that was a goal. I tried squeezing center colas around the room and there was no give in the buds, nothing spongey for sure. I'm sure if I let these go an additional week, I would pick up at least another 10% MORE WEIGHT but I'm ready to move on to the next grow- it been a long 14 weeks (4 in veg, 10 in flower).

Came across this pic of mine from almost 3 years ago on 420magazine........one of the nicest looking Ethos strains I've done, only one issue- NO BUZZ! A very solid yielder too, just no buzz at all. Such a disappointment. Anyone know which one it is? First person to guess it right will get a brownie. LOL

Message me, I’ll send you a pack of seeds. I have a bunch of things you may be interested in. You are obviously reading my old threads to get that so easily. Lol

Ethos Inzane is being used in some new strains, maybe in their auto’s. it’s something to consider down the road. Look for my write up on their Chem OG. Lol

Not sure I’ll hit the 100 mark, probably not. To get there, everything has to be perfect and I’m not sure the room is up to par as some others. The quality is there, but i still have some doubt. I reread the breeders description again tonight and both parents are known for their bud density, so we’ll see. There’s also so branches leaning into each other, which makes it all that much harder to guess. And, I’m wondering if the LED’s are starting to degrade a bit, as this is the 7th-8th grow with them, about 2 years.

It says this member limits who may view their profile when I try to click your screen name to send a message.. as for the weight.. I Have Faith! Sticking with the 104 lol.. I wanted to ask about water volume... how much are you watering at the start and how do you know how much and when you increase? I feel like overwatering is a plague I'm having go on.. what would you say perfect soil moisture content is percentage-wise? Last question... will you be going w gavita again... or switching when the time comes?

That is a good question. Pro mix gets crusty on top. I had trouble deciding on volume and measured everything. I think his pms are shut off. I tried a few months ago.

Hum………..

Watering- as I’ve stated, I probably under water, and surely don’t over water. Thats why I’m watering daily basically. Many 1 1/2 quarts a day. Rarely do I see it come out the bottom of the pots. As long as the very tops of the soil is dry, I water. Promix is not good if you let it over dry before watering. Top 1 inch is dry, I water.

When i defoliate am down low, I always mix up the top soil to break the hardness up. Water will penetrate better.

I’m figuring I’ll give the Gavita’s I own another year, then start looking for replacements. i like these a lot, no complaints on quality or yield with them. Price would have to come into consideration at the time, and I’ll see what the new LED’s on the market have to offer. I know I don’t need more than 700 watts per side to make it all work wonderfully, remember, I’m 4x4, not 5 x5, so things might be different otherwise.
