Tobacco Mosaic Virus? Hot/Cold Damage? Normal Wear and Tear? High Res Pics!

Hey guys,

So, Ive had slight temp control issues, esp with where some of the plants are located in relation to the incoming air and heater, as the closer ones have more of this damage....

I had assumed that issue combined with normal wear and tear is what has been damaging some of my leaves, which I eventually remove at a certain "level" of damage.

Last night I saw a pic of a fan leaf with TMV and it looked very similar to some of the leaves I chopped out the other day. So I figured I'd better post and see what people think, and figure out if I have some serious disease or pest problem.

Thanks so much!!

Basic info... (My journal has a bunch of pics and stuff btw)
Plants have been mostly super healthy.
2.5 weeks after going to 12/12, switched to HPS 4 days ago
TGA super soil bottom, TGA base soil top.
I water with artisan well water from the store, I don't PH it but last grow I used the same stuff and it was consistently around 7.5-8 ph, haven't been checking run off...
No liquid nutes except Flora Nectar which is mostly sugar and molasses, using 5-10ml/gal once a week right now.

I do smoke tobacco and until now we have used the adjacent bacemennt area to smoke. And I do often smoke before going down to water the plants, usually wash my hands and/or wear nitrile gloves, BUT not always.

PS> I'm using LST big time so I also assume some leaf damage is from them being crowded and rubbing.

All pics from today, normally I would not have chopped some of these leaves yet but wanted to get clean pics for you guys, sorry for HID on the others....

i've yet to see a confirmed case of tmv in cannabis plants, and it usually turns out to be a case of broad mites..

idk what is going on with your plants, just wanted to chime in about tmv..

Thanks for the input so far!!

I updated the tilte post with some info but want to reply so some posts directly...

You are smoking tobacco near the plants?
I'm ashamed of it but yes, I do smoke tobacco and until now we have used the adjacent basement area to smoke. And I do often smoke before going down to water the plants, usually wash my hands and/or wear nitrile gloves, BUT not always.

i do not think this is TMV

how about pH off, low RH, or toxicity?
I've thought maybe pH as I haven't so much as tested anything once this grow. But I'm using pretty much 100% organic here, didn't think I needed to go thru all that bullshit this time, hehe.

RH has been a bit of an issue, cold and dry here. I keep it 40-60 in there right now but it dips into mid 30s at night. Temps also getting down to 63 at times.

Toxicity would be too much nutes right? I am mixing 5-10ml/gal Flora Nectar once a week in with the water, it's pretty much molasses and sugar. I'm using supersoil mixed with base, they grew 3-4 weeks(from seed) only in base, then up-canned with prob 65% super on bottom, 35% base in the top.

I've seen similar leaf damage, attributed it to nutrient burn from droplets when hand watering with a watering can.
I do get water all over the damn place they way they are trained down, so I've thought maybe that was a factor... but like I said above, not using liquid nutes really.

Thanks again guys!!

Well,

I still haven't figured it out, I think its just random damage and/or air temp. I'm trying to get things more stable in that regard...

On the upside the garden is really taking off!!

Ive smoked cigs for almost 20 yrs and have never given my plants TMV..(at least not to my knowledge or by looks) and im a mechanic so obviously im not the cleanest guy ..although i try to keep my grow clean i still smoke around my plants, touch them with cigs n my hand(outside),...I can tell you I (ME) fuck up my plants more so than if id just left them alone... was the gurls doin this before you switched to the hps?..

Yes, been under hps 1 week, 12/12 3 weeks, even before switching I'd see this damage. I'm fairly sure its proximity to cold air coming in combined with the heater blowing on them after the cold air rushes past.... I've sealed up the intake a bit better to help minimize this, and trying to pull air from higher up in the room.

what kind of temp diff. r we talkin...10..20?!..then we can obviously eliminate the light spectrum. I only asked this as I have a 400 Ceramic Metal Halide and when i was done growing i gave a few plants to my friend to hold for me and he had a 400 hps and they did similar issues i believe from the photo/light spectrum of things..seem they had to adjust/was stress from different light spectrums!

I has gotten worse in the last week, but I was for sure seeing leaf damage before even moving to 12/12.

Temps in the room stay from 65-78 generaly. But like I watch my remote thing at night, and figured out that for a while, the cold air from the basement, prob in the 40-50s was coming in, then kicking on the heater. I would see the temp go down to 62 the shoot up to 74 over the period of a few min on the remote sensor.

It's kinda cramped in there so the heater points towards the circulation fan which oscillates across the plants...

Since then I have poinnted the circulation fan so it no blows less directly on the plants. And sealed up my flap door so that its not bringing in the cold air low to the ground and near the heater. Still seeing damage but not nearly as much as I cut out the other day...

I dunno I could just being trying to convince myself of all this and that I don't have some crazy disease or worse. But it seems to make sense because the plants closest to the fan, are getting the most damage, it's even the leaves that are in the direct path, hehe.

r u runnin the same strain as last grow?!...id ph the water down to 6.0-7.0 and see if its a nute lock issue....maybe even ad some epsom salt to help and build up.

almosts looks like some of the leaves i posted. check my topic named please help. my temps are in flux also right now so i think we have that in common. i run around 75-85 with lights on and seen low 50's light off. i am working on fixing the problem best i can but it is easier said then done.

No, last grow (first grow) was 6 Blueberry clones from a Dispensary.

This grow is all freebies from attitude and 2 bagseeds from a different Dispensary. As far as PHing, I'm sort of keen on just leaving it alone this time. Last grow I went full on chem nutes(Flora Series) gave it the full chart and actually ended up doubling and trippling some concentrations(them blueberry loved the nutes)... This grow I'm using nothing but supersoil and water, hehe. Was giving it some FloraNectar for the molasses and sugar, but I'm holding off on that the past week. Think I might just start using black strap or whatever.

I'm not seeing much new damage since pointing the fan away and sealing up the bottom of the incoming air flap. I am seeing it stay in the high 60s at night now but also getting up to 80 with the light on. Don't think its a problem as the sensor reads a lil hot being directly under the HPS with no glass.

This certainly isn't a mosaic virus but the virus can and does (very rarely) attack Cannabis plants. There's tons of different types of the mosaic virus; even a Hemp Mosaic Virus.
