13 days into flower and tent is full!!

Do i start pulling some fan leaves or leave them alone?

usually only take leaves that are not looking to healthy but all of them look healthy and don't want to stress them if not needed.

Please do let me know what you would do if you was in my shoes?WhatsApp Image 2017-04-19 at 12.40.02 PM.jpeg

I would leave them until they actually get some buds going. Then at 6-7 weeks flowering I would pull off the outer half of all the big upper leaves to reduce shading, meaning the leaf tips, I just pull them off with my fingers, too awkward trying to hold them to cut with scissors and not drop the pieces. I would not however remove entire leaves. Just not necessary.

Ok BobCajun. so a little confused at what you mean.

so you don't take the full leaf just half?

are these leaves growing round the buds or just the full fan leaves?

i dont usually grow like this with a net and training, also dont usually grow rdwc so not used to the speed of growth either.

will go with your advise though and leave them for now as they are only just showing signs of flowers and dont want to stress at this stage.

Be Nice to here what others do as well though?

i actually pull most of the big ass sun leaves twice during flower, the ones growing on long ass stems that cover half the plant. they aren't as efficient as the smaller "shade" leaves and block light from most of the lower growth, so i'll pull most of them off the top of the plant at 3 weeks, and again at 6 weeks, just leave the lower ones that aren't blocking light.

Like I said I don't usually touch them unless they look shit ie unhealthy.

Just seems to be a lot of people on here and other sites doing a hell of a lot of trimming and just wondered was I missing something?

Do the large fan type leaves growing from the main stem and not attached to a bud zone contribute to the growth of the bud?

I always thought the leaves near or on the bud zones are the ones never to touch but fuck knows like I said don't really do anything like that normally.

Really appreciate the input though guys as completely new this dwc.

I would strip anything below the canopy bare and leave all those big healthy fans. If the plant takes them then help it out by removing a wilty dead fan ya know because that can promote mold but let them ladies do their thing with those nice fans and they look like their doing it well btw, good job.

yep, me too. the bottom leaves will start to yellow the deeper you get into flowering and i will take them off or they usually just fall off on their own.

think about the leaves this way: early on, they give the plant energy to make roots, then they give energy to grow vertically. then vertical and root growth kinda halts and they give energy to form flowers. that's where you are at right now. why give them less energy to produce flowers?? that's my 2 cents.

That's what I think unless it's problematic why f#@k with it, so what the hell are these guys getting from taking so much from their girls?
Seen some real monsters as well with hardly any leaves left?

Oh well stick with what works I suppose.

Love to hear from someone that really takes lots of foliage from their plants and why? what does it do for your plants end product?

Yo dude, for my 2 cents, i don't trim though I've no problem with people who do and you're right, some you see looking like palm trees still seem to get bonanza buddage, though i think that probably more cause they're experienced growers who are good at boosting plants under high powered lights, rather than it's a casual technique to be used by all.

My rationale is firstly it's an unnecessary, though admittedly minor, injury to the plant and secondly, removing them takes away a portion of the plants nute & energy stores. During veg and first 5 - 6 weeks of flowering I'd say these ain't major issues, though certainly 2 weeks before finish i don't like diverting any energy away from final flourish, no matter how minor.

My only advice would be try to tuck, tie or even tape as many as possible out the way to solve the shade problem. Even if leaves are tied vertical to a stem, or 2 banded together so one shade leaf fully overlaps the other, the plant still gets to leech the juices out of them, and it will choose to shed any tucked ones naturally when it decides, which is healthier too. Personally, I avoid cutting any, especially late in flower, yet like i say plenty do have it as their preference!

Though fair play you been caught out with RDWC and looks a good advert for switching to it lol! They look massive, strong and hungry to grow even bigger - look awesome dude! I guess that's only other thing, is although i can't really tell how tall they are from pic, they still look quite squat and bushy in the pic, so I'm guessing they still yet to go through initial flower stretch, though if they do, or if can induce it, then that'll hopefully lift your canopy up and stretch it all out a little, so reflected light will coat the stems and middle better. It also looks like the colas will come through your net in a well arranged pattern, so i think once they stretch up abit, you'll be fine, and then only lower leaves might need trimming for air circulation (since you ScroGing).

Start that battle a few days before harv. I will just wash my hands really well and pull all the fans by hand on the final day or two........clean and neat. Then all I have to trim is sugar leaf, which all gets saved.

They are stretching out some now, probably 4 to 5 inch in last few days.
i was totally bored with the speed of my soil/coco grows so thought what the hell just go for it, loved the concept of DWC and i totally love a challenge.
Anyway here is a pic 1 hour after light came on this am just look at them girls stretch hahaha bit scary hope they don't go too tall.2017-04-20 07.28.07.jpg

Mostly dry ice keif and that goes to make infused coconut oil which in turn mostly gets used for hard candies.
Nice never made keif before. i like to make canna butter from my oil and do some baking! Cookies be my fav.

This keif is it produced with dif size screens and ice water? if so mght give it a try as it must be cleaner than BHO extraction.

That's bubble hash with the ice water.................. dry ice method uses the bubble bags to dry shift.

I use the 220 micron "work bag" to sift until it starts to look a little green, then stop. That's as far as I take it. Some people will sift through the screen sizes to get different results or whatnot.
