pics of the reflecter and how you mounted the cfl

I'm tossing reflector ideas around but I'm not sure how to go about it. Well that and mounting the cfl and socket inside.

I'm just running single wired/single socket with splitters.

yea but those aren't very good for cfls, especially with a splitter. Not much of anything would still be in the reflector lol

I recently bought an aquarium light set up from our local pet store. It house 3 CFL's which are mounted sideways and has a built in reflector. Runs about $30. Two or three of these work well.

this is what i did. go to the grocery and buy those aluminum or tin roasting pans (they should be plentiful and cheap this close to thanksgiving), then cut two holes in the top ( see pic). You can leave the edges of the roasting pan rolled, i unrolled mine. then I utilized the classic splitter method: however, i put the splitter through the hole i cut, then screwed the socket and splitter together. next screw in the other splitter ( a single pan could probably hold 6 bulbs, i only made mine for 4) to the other socket. All that is left now is to screw in the 4, or 6, bulbs into the splitter. This method is kinda nead as you can hang the light by the cords leading to the socket and do not have to attach chains or anything to the reflector itself. Because it is lightweight it hangs on the splitters, away from the point of connection.

You should avoid having you CFL's too enclosed as the heat can cause the CFL's to have a shortened lifespan.
Not to bad if its only cheap household bulbs, but if your using horticulture CFL's you might want to keep a bit of distance or have some ventilation close by.
