To nute or not to nute?

I have persevered with them, added perlite, put them in bigger pots, watered twice in 18 days (small shot each day also) - Tap water (Scottish)left for 24 hours. I'm noticing everything when on such small scale and I have kept the pots still small to restrict the height it can grow to. I have pictures from day 14 here and I would like to know what to do about the tiny leaves up the stem? They are looking good at day 18(today)! Just going to take some pics now - hahaha - addicted to showing off my not so great pictures...

Nope just leave them as they are unless your planning on doing a method that i cant remember the name of to save my life but basically once theres 4-5 nodes you FIM it so you'll get 4 main stems after the FIM starts to grow again is when you remove the excess foliage and allow those 4 stems to get another 3-4 nodes and top them normally at equal lengths from the main stalk and again removing foliage behind where you topped. What it does is gives you 8 main cola's that grow vertical while also distributing nutes and water equally. if anybody knows the method im talking about please chime in

MG is fine. It will make great buds.

FF Ocean Forest is much better.

Do not be put off by the locals reacting to your initial technique.

Thanks Javadog. I am a bit out of touch...

It's not MG I'm using, its Westland gro sure which has more lime in it than MG. I'm confident it will grow buds.

I was a bit nervous with the first leaves as I knew the soil was a bit strong for such little seedlings and was scared they were being burnt with the nutrients. To nute or not to nute was probably a really stupid title for the thread... They are so bushy - never under hps (back in the day) did I ever have such a bushy stem - It can only be down to the 6400k bulb. Should show sex soon - Kandy Kush Auto (Fem).

I will update if anyone's interested?

Defo hanging around this joint ( no pun intended )

OK. 23 days old. I'm still convinced I have too much foliage on the stem...

I have pulled the plant to the side in some pics to show. I've managed to keep the plants nice and short ( that's the plan) and I have seen the start of 1 or 2 white hairs - (auto) not able to show due to s**t camera...

I am worried that the light ( as it is cfls) will not reach underneath to the flowers when they begin to form. I have tried tucking but the cheeky wench keeps popping back to her normal state. There is that much foliage I thkught about taking a few fan leaves - although this idea does not sit right with me either.​

Anyideas you helpful lot? I'm planning on keeping this going until I complete so please feel free to sub I like it round these parts :leaf:

The hardest thing to learn for this hobby is probably patience.

Depending on your flowering plan (How high at the end, under what light?)
you might not be flowering that baby for a month or two. You can feel free
to let it be for a while. There is not "too much foliage on the stem".

Let the plant show you what it is like and you can go from there.

Now, a too-dense node structure is a genuine problem, but that
is often caused by too many/much nutes.

The next thing you will likely do is to top it, depending on how
many tops you want to flower.

Take it slow!

I'm not too worried about height as I can manipulate the way she grows easily enough. I have no plans to top her.

I have one 140 wt 2700k and one of the original 6400k that's been in from the beginning. Should I take the 6400k out? Both are the same wattage so I'd be loosing a lot of light.

Thanks dude... off to read up on dense node structures.

The node structures look ok on these two though right?

I'm assuming it is more to the growers advantage if you start LST early?

I might start tying the stem down as It's now into rapid growth and I don't have the room :(

Och! She doesn't look as pretty when sideways...

It is often (always in my case) lack of head-room that
leads to LST and topping, along with increasing top bud sites,
but often, with autos, growers will let plants go.

Autos only have so long to grow, and topping slows growth.

Lack of space can leave little option, but consider bending
the main top right over, growing the plant sideways, in the future.

for sure, LST'ing has been one of my main tools in keeping my plants low...but, i do think you said these were "AUTO's" correct? those naturally stay short and bushy....but if it still grows out of that space, tie em down, i drill holes at the top of the pot, and put screws into the pot, and just use twisty ties. how tall is your grow space anyway? you keep saying its small....is it enclosed? im guessing not, because you said you were using 2 125 watt cfl's, i am thinking that would heat a enclosed space up to 200 degrees!

I have now moved it into a bigger space (wardrobe) although now really concerned.

It is 8 week from seed pop and started flowering only about 2 weeks ago. I am going by plant growth not by calendar...

I have read it can take up to 14 weeks. The thing is if it takes even 14 weeks my flowers look way behind. I thought this might be down to the problems at the beginning.

Will the auto run out of time for its cycle or will it keep going until it completes it?

Autos are good. Hardiest plants ever.

I am also aware I have not used any bloom nutrients as I'm sticking with what's in the pot.

Any advice on how they are looking generally would be greatly appreciated...
