.. as a former heating technician I recommend you never vent into a chimney
If you have a furnace or water heater going up your chimney don't vent out on the chimney.
You risk death to everyone in the house.

Now if you don't have nothing through your chimney you can use it to vent.
I have used mine for a few years as I don't have anything else going through it.

More or less most ppl I know here in the north have active chimneys and have almost killed themselves because of blowback
Can you go into more detail why please? Blowback of what, smoke or carbon Monoxide back into the grow room?
Just interested in the reasons why. I have a wood heater with a flue and don't get smoke blow back once its drawing properly even in very high gusty winds. Do of cause before its drawing properly. I don't vent into it.

ive seen some smoke but mainly carbon monoxide from what I was told. Granted most of these guys were less scholars lol. They don’t do anything properly.

I had the same issue of my room getting to damn hot. Now I run a diy led turned down to about 600 watts and my room runs right around 84 degrees even on the hottest days. I put a box fan at the door so it can suck air from the other room into the room where my tent is. And I leave my tent door open most of the time and have a giant carbon filter running 24 hours threw a 8 inch fan.

Good to know, i am completely oblivious to chimney technology. I live in socal where fireplaces and chimneys are mostly decorative and assume mine is just a single stack with a flue. Ill think twice next time before recommending someone vent out a chimney.

Really it is best to cut a hole in your house and make it look like a laundry vent.
I have done that as well in my house.Did that after I got legal before that all went up my chimney. Now I use both. But again I say there is no furnace or water heater that goes up my chimney. Both those went thru pipes on there own. Becareful everyone...…….
In my house you cant tell I'm growing weed, no smell at all in my house unless I'm drying weed.
