To Germinate or not to?

Germinating them at home and then planting them out, or sowing them directly in their final location?
Whats the benefits of each?
What will the difference be if i germinate them before put them in the pot or if i just plant the seeds directly into a small pot and let them sprout naturally?

Pre-germinating isn't required. For minimal fuss, just start them directly in a quality soil\less mix in containers at least 4" tall, about half inch deep; water thoroughly, put somewhere 72+ (cool temperatures will hinder germination).

If you're planning to grow them outdoors, I would still start them inside, then harden them after a couple weeks before moving them to their final locations. More mature seedlings will fare better outdoors than a young, tender sprout.

I agree with Nullis, with regular crops its ok to sow directly into the soil outdoors due to the volume that you can put down at once. With MJ you have to do a plant here and a plant there, depending on where you are ;) so you may as well give them a strong start indoors so they can thrive when you plant them outside!

Some people like to germinate first, then plant, because they can be sure the tap root has sprouted. Other people don't like doing it this way because you have to handle the seed and tap root to plant it, and in doing so can damage it.

I agree with the latter, and plant my seeds in rock wool cubes. I've only had one seed not germinate, and it was a suspect bag seed.
