to cut, or not to cut, that is the question.

You still got a ways to go yet. The leaf tip burn in your pics show they have been at max nutes for awhile now, I would start to lower the nutrients, at this stage they really only require 1/2 strength nutes at the most and any more will not benefit anything. You should gauge the age by looking at the thrics and watch them for colour change. Here have a read, http://www.kindgreenbuds.com/cannabis-grow-bible.html hope this helps.

Btw, judging ripeness/maturity by looking at the amber trichs is an amateur mistake. Anyone who's truely done their research can tell you so. Once those trichomes turn amber in color, they are no longer thc/cbd they have now turned into CBN, which has no psychoactive properties and is known to cause a sick nausea feeling more than anything else. If your looking for a couch lock type stone then you need to select strains that provide such, which are mainly indica and indica dominates.

Also, if you want those buds to get fatter and denser, you need to up your K (potassium) towards the last few weeks of you grow

Once a plant has fully transitioned into the flowering phase, and bud site development is maximized, a bloom booster with a 1:4 ratio of elemental phosphorus to elemental potassium is needed to produce more structurally sound buds (dense bud formation throughout the calyx cluster). This is where Liquid Blue comes into play. After the first half of the flower phase, growers should begin transitioning to a lower phosphorus (P) / higher potassium (K) bloom booster. Elevated levels of phosphorus are no longer needed to maximize development of bud sites but elevated levels of potassium is necessary to plump and harden buds and maximize the yield of high-value plants. Although Potassium does not form a structural part of any plant component or compound, It is required for various metabolic activities and physiological functions. It is agreed throughout the plant science community that elevated levels of potassium are unequivocally required for maximum yield of flowering plants.

Perfectly stated.. I hate when people say if you want a more couch lock effect let them go more amber .. if you want a more couch lock effect, grow a heavy indica and not a sativa Dom.. indices will always be stonier and sativa more high no matter what the tricks look like.. you're never going to get a couch lock effect out of a sativa ..

And to the.op.. you've still got probably close to a month or so left on those.. they look good, just be patient and look at the pix in the second post as that's what finished buds should look like IMO..

  • The first thing you need to know is that there are 3 "states" in a trichomes development.

The first state is clear. Clear trichomes contain precursor cannabinoids (cannabinoids are the different substances in cannabis).
These precursor cannabinoids are not psychoactive (they do not produce a 'high') yet and harvesting clear trichomes will not give you a proper harvest.

The second state is cloudy/milky. Cloudy trichomes contain fully realized THC (the by far main contributing substance in any cannabis high).
You want to get as close to 100% cloudy trichomes @ harvest to get the most potency out of your plant. It's impossible to get 100% cloudy trichomes, since trichomes are always being produced and are always maturing, even after harvest the trichomes will continue to develop.

The third state is amber. Amber trichomes contain degraded THC --> CBN. CBN represents a loss of 90% potency (from THC).
CBN is not desirable in any harvest, since it not only represents a huge loss of potency but research into the substance has also shown that CBN does not produce a high like THC does, CBN produces a more sickly feeling not a true high.

Understanding the difference between clear - cloudy - amber trichomes is essential in getting a proper harvest with a peak potency.

ok, this is great info :) wasnt looking for a couch lock, which is why they are both almost pure sativa as far as i understand :) also, my last nute dose, like i said, was N3:P1:K6. but ya, so once the thc has turned to cbn is the bud not useless?

No the buds not useless, just not nearly as potent as it would if you harvest with lower amounts of amber trichs compared to say a 60/40 cloudy/amber ratio which some people seem to suggest. In my opinion this is something only amateurs and misinformed people would do

When you think.its done try to.man through it and wait another week and be sure that you back off nutes then feed only water for a week min to try and flush the plant...but dont just run gallons through just water normally
