To cure or Not to cure (Lets get down to the REAL answer)

Alright so for sometime now me and some friends have had discussion after discussion about whether or not commercial growers cure or not.

And if they did, how the process would go.

Usually it comes down to me saying I dont think they do, they want the money and soon as they can get it, they dont care about the product as much as they do the money.

But if they did cure they must not cure for a long period of time ( ex. 3 months [ recommended best time] )
Yet every time I buy a bag of kush from a local dealer it is so damn good, taste wise and smell wise. How do they do it ?

So what are your thoughts, does the curing process really make a huge difference?, do the commercial growers do it? and if so how ? and How long do you really need to do it to make a great harvest every time.

really nothing..? no one has anything to comment on this?

i just thought of this same thing recently, i think that for reg they just dry and pack it.....but for "loud" its actually cured first....

I think it would be too big a time investment for the commercial growers. Back in the day they didn't even trim the weed; they just ground it all up together with fan leaves and stems and we smoked it.

If its commercial you don't cure at all. You dry it as much as you feel like, usually a week or less, and it's ready.

I was thinking the same.
If I was a small commerical grower I would cure for a week or two atleast for my buyers.

This is what i thought, it just makes sense. Why in the hell would you go through the trouble of curing when you could have product thats smokable in a whole lot less time.
Less time from grow room to the street=more $$

But at the same time, you can charge more for product that is cured right and call it "dank" or "loud"...You're charging extra for the time spent producing well cured nugs

Works both ways I guess. Im small scale but believe in quality. I short cure most the time and grow only organic soil. I unload to 1 client bulk and he does what he wants with it. We all win.

Well a smart commercial grower will eventually be on a system to where they always have some curing and going out at the same time! a 2 month cure is a must its what makes the difference in price, and dont you like knowing its done the right way, and that your stuff is the best possible, people wont go look for better if yours is the best, so why skimp on curing yea you get weight but those losers come and go, A good commercial grower takes his time and patients, because in the long run you will never have a short in clientell lining up for the Dank!

Not curing imo is such a waste and any true Connoisseur will always cure. Speaking of which I just had some Og KushXSour D, or Ogiesel that was cured for about 2 months, then aged for a year....BOOOOMMMB : )

Yeah, I've been smoking my plants since harvest and it's been a little over two months, and the jars i haven't touched are incredible.

it cures in the bag as it is mass shipped to the US, at least thats my thoughts on mexican weed.

small time local dealers probally harvest/dry and then start the cure and they sell it as people need it, so maybe bottom of the batch is better in that case i dunno. personally as much as i would like to wait 3 months to properly cure my smoke, i just dont care enough. it get chopped dried and then goes into the jars, i do open them to let the bud dry back out from time to time but i just pick nugs and smoke em along the way

I think its more to each his own. there is no wrong way just preference

It's impossible to make sweeping generalizations. Just as there are different grades of bud, there are different ways of handling the product post harvest. Yes, some commercial growers do cure, and others do not. Shocking news, huh? lol

Okay so due to me posting this I thought I should ask around and be nosey to a few larger growers I know. out of 6 people 2 said they cured on purpose, then I asked do you think that the time you have it in bag opening and closing and opening is over a months period? and all 6 said that they store their buds in jars ( yea mason jars) and sold as it comes, 1 did say though that he never has any 2 weeks after harvest so thats barely curing. but the others might have been curing their buds good and for atleast a month. Yet ive had bud from all of them, and just about everytime I get the best of kush. At this point I think im throwing the white flag up the question is unanswerable well it is but you can never be right or wrong. It is all based on personal preferences, and also i think a bit to do with the marijuana your growing.
