Tipping

I'm usually a great tipper but it's based on 1)speed of delivery......take too long and it goes down. 2)condition.......if my food is cold or lets say the cheese on a pizza is all slid off into a corner of the box, down it goes.

In a restaurant, it all depends on the service. Take care of me, I take care of you.

nothing against waitstaff, but any tip over 20% (and you had to be REAL GOOD to get that, otherwise you get the 15) is fucking ridiculous unless the meal came with a blowjob. example, if i take some chick out to a plain ol' pub i pay 13.99 for each meal, plus 12 bucks for two beers, plus a 7% sales tax and THEN a 5% "prepared food" tax and FUCKING THEN a 3% "county tax". i'm already getting raped 15% for tax. total tab for grilled salmon and beer for 2 people = 46 bucks for something that the menu makes seem like it costs around 38 (the menus here are only required to mention the sales tax). then on top of that i'm supposed to dish out another 10 dollars (at 20%) just because it's "polite"? don't get me wrong, i will tip well when warrented, but if you are working on tips you need to earn them. and by "earn" i don't mean dropping a plate in front me and never returning to refill my soda, check if the food is good, bring steak sauce, etc. and if you make me wait for the check when i'm clearly waiting to leave, you will not get the 20%. i fucking hate being held prisoner in a restaurant waiting for the check.

edit: food delivery i give a flat 5 bucks plus change no matter how small the order. i live in the hood and i reward big hairy cajones. most places won't even deliver here so if you bring me food you are my hero.

I pay based on speed and quality of service when I eat out... but a 20 dollar delivery merits 2-3 bucks...

When I order Chinese food, and it's delivered, it comes to about $22-$23 usually, I give them an even $25.
When Dominos delivers to my house, I'll give them $2-$3 usually, from a $18 order.

I split the tips when I waited. it sucked because the other girl would disappear for an hour at a time. I had one guy who would come to see me and have one drink and always give me a 20 and i'd have to put it in the bin. not fair. We took care of the finances at the end of the night so i always got the correct amount from cards but if someone stiffed on their bill, we would have to pay it out of our tips.
*gak* i hated splitting tips so bad. it is a *raw* deal for the earners. although, there was one place that a few of us complained to management and they made it so whoever was the floor manager kept an eye on who was WiNnIng that night and divvied it up accordingly. the owners were scheisters so they paid their chefs a low salary but gave them a big tip out....*sigh* ya just can't win...

Tips depend on service, pizza guy gets a few bucks, he did nothing besides drive, and most places have a delivery fee.
Restaurants can very, shitty food and staff get 0$ others anything from 5$ up depends on the bill, but never over 15 unless it's a large party.
I worked in a few restaurants in my teens so tip accordingly

Delivery people are the hardest and most unpaid of them all,,,With risking there life and other's on the road's,,,If the service is good tip the driver's people. I used to be OTR trucin' and i would tip well if the service is good,,,But Damn some people are just misreble and I'd give them "Zink" pennie's....

I wish they would just charge a delivery fee and say NO TIP required. That would make things easier than guessing what is appropriate.
