Tiny Yellow Specks on Fan Leaves

Does anyone know what can cause tiny yellow specks to develop on the fan leaves. This seems to happen to me a lot right when I go into flower. I can't tell if its over or under fert. I am not on any specific feeding schedule and I'm pretty sure the pH of the soil is anywhere from 6.5 to 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

instead of telling us 'your pretty sure' go test your pH it could be the whole problem. the patches on your leaves look definitely like a deficiency which will be caused by out of range pH. we keep our pH in range because certain nutrients are available at certain pH's between 5.5 to 6.5 I prefer to keep it around 6.2 in soils. if your not late in flower give a good spray of calcium and magnesium. hope this helps

x2 on the cal/mag issue.

but.....

what kind of soil are you using? and by chance are you adding any hydrogen peroxide to your water? I was having an issue about 6 weeks into veg and 3 more weeks into flower. I was putting some hydrogen peroxide in my water holding tanks to keep the water "fresh", I have 2-33gal tanks. the peroxide was killing all the beneficials in my soil causing spots similar to yours. I bought a product called SOS. it puts the benies' back into the soil. 2 weeks later, I now have perfect leaves once again.

was just another thought.

Agree with both Lemon and Demon... Cal/Mag.

Demon, thanks for that info. I have a 55 gallon tank. Will look into SOS.

Good luck and keep us posted.

^^^^the only reason you would need SOS is if you killed all the beneficials in the soil or hydro system.

op, it could also be spider mites. check underside of leaves with a scope.

I've checked for mites and I can never find any. What is the BEST way to check the pH? When I try to check the runoff I run into trouble because I can never get an accurate reading on plain R/O water! The guy at the water store that I go to says he's sure it's 6.5 but my meter can never get a steady reading. (Blue Lab ph pen) The first time I checked the runoff the PH was extremely low at like 5.3 or something so I flushed very well and gave cal-mag but the problem remained. Digital ph soil probe says that the ph is 6.5 - 7 depending on where i stick it in. I appreciate the help. I also noticed that the yellow spots are only in the margins of the leaves, making me think it's definitely not mites.

No i'm not. This is the first grow i've done NOT using FF. Thanks for the help man.
Hmm I was wondering because lately, FFOF has not been putting a large enough amount of lime and oyster shells to buffer the acidifying effects of the peat moss. If the new soil your using is a highly peat moss based solution then the best advice you can get is to give about 2 tablespoons of lime to your plants.

It has very little if any peat moss at all. I forget what its called I think its made by a company called Aurora. It worked great up until flower....

I always read this is calcium deficiency, but I still can't figure this one out. Once you see it, it starts playing tricks on you. You start thinking new spots are showing up everywhere while trying to correct it, wondering if you fixed it yet.

I had this problem when I had 450ppm tap water. I think it's because the apartment manager was using a water softener, and thus overloading the water with sodium.

Ya its really confusing and hard to tell if its getting better, staying the same, or getting worse. I wish I knew how to truly test the pH of the soil.

15 months or years? Does your cal/mag deficiency normally look like that? Do u use R/O water and add cal/mag in those first 7 weeks?

I posted the same thread on the 3mg site about spots on leaves. the consensus was either a cal/mag or spider mite issue.

heres a pic of my fan I posted up.
