Tiny cab first micro grow

Well, I haven't grow in 4 years. Moved to Cali and now it's legit. Problem I have is space and security. Got an old icebox style cabinet with int. dim. Of 18"h x 18.5"w x 14" d. I've got a seed started and now need input. I'm deciding between 150w switchable led or the mars 2 400w. I'm thinking both are overkill but either will fit in my space. I'll try and get the pics up tonight. I'm open to suggestions.

The mars 2 would be too much over kill but it would be nice for upgrading to a slightly bigger box in the future.

In a box that small though, you could probably get a 150w cfl system or throw together a handful of 23w cfls on a surge protector.

Im in the process of building my mini cab. Which is about 1.5x2x3.5.

If possible build one of them. Cost me about 12 bucks of wood and i had some extra B&W poly for the frame.

I'm not to sure how much money you have to throw around but there are some good results from hans panels. http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow.html . Its 65w, switchable, and probably really suitable. Other wise diy leds are great in a small grow space. Remember with leds its the quality of the led rather than the quantity.

this is what i'm working with.DSC02748.JPGDSC02749.JPGDSC02751.JPGDSC02752.JPGDSC02753.JPGDSC02754.JPGI might be able to squeeze a couple more inches vertically if I lower the floor of the box.

In that small of a space I would go LED. I like the passive air intake idea. Looks like another nice stealthy grow! Good luck.

Lots of space. Just make sure you don't overkill on the lights. Stealth grows suffer a lot from heat.

You've got everything covered here, though.

Picked up some kilz, weather strip, caulk, and a cabinet lock. About to go get some hardboard. I'll be throwing it all together soon.

I just picked up some mdf. I'll be doing some origami with it to divert air from the top sides to my fans which will be lower.

We'll, I've started cutting the passive air intake. Pics will come when I take the time to upload them.
Notballin, I was hoping that first carbon filter you made worked. Now I have to rework odor control as the absolute blue I have started is already starting to smell.
Another trip to Home Depot I guess.

You can probably make it work. It's just that I had to change it up because of how I made my exhaust.

I should add that the 150w LED will be on its way soon. I'm working on a carbon filter design and will probably get parts tomorrow. If no more kilz is necessary, i'll be thowing in a cabinet lock tomorrow as well. looking forward to comments on this project.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be building filters of pvc and ducting the airflow through the top sides of the box. after that it should just be some finish work, wiring, and waiting for the light I designed this for.

Picked up black paint yesterday for the passive intake. Also have 1 of my 2 carbon filters made. Still waiting for my light to arrive. I'll get pics up if I have any time today( kids trashed the house yesterday so cleaning is in order).
