Tiny Bugs - What to do?

It seems that my Romulan plant has these very small bugs which cannot be seen in this photo.
What should I do to get rid of them?

Let the top of the soil dry out and they will be gone soon.

I would put some soil in that pot as well.
 
Seems you can't go wrong with neem oil or if you're cheap check the FAQ on how to make some nicotine pesticide.
 
What that does is kills the larvae in the soil. If ya been keeping the top of the soil moist then that will do the trick.
 
you could also put about an inch of sand on the top, that also kills the larvae. neem oil you can get at a garden store. i just buy the premixed spray bottle and spray your plants leaves down w/ it. DO NOT spray it on the plant when your lights or sun hits the plants. spray when you put them to bed. i spray mine twice during the life cycle, more if needed!!
 
I bought the neem oil and sprayed my plants.
I turned off my lights for this, how long should they be off for?
Also, whats the easiest eay to lower Ph?
 
You can try adding a tbs of dish soap to 4 cups of water and water with this. I had great luck with my little white bugs. Killed all of them after just 2 watering with this. I wouldnt recommened 2 waterings in 2 days. I water once with this mixture, waited a complete day, continued my water cycle, and 7 days later watered again with the dish soap mixture. Good luck with them :)
 
oh yeah forgot to mention, its lemon dish soap. Its the lemon traces that actually killed insects. Just thought id mention that hehehehe
 
those tiny bugs are "fungus gnats"

many ways to get rid of them, just do some research


your in northern canada, what province?
 
to lower your ph, get a tester and test your water, then add some lemon juice and test it till you get it to the level you need. Its what i do.
 
The only problem with putting sand on top is it wont allow the rest of the soil to dry and could cause root rot probs. Listen to Dirtyboy and let the soil dry and dont water as much as you have been. Wait til your plants look like they need water. Pick up the pot and see how light they feel, and you will know when to water by the weight of the pots. Dont overwater and the nats wont come back.
 
Gmanhollywood your plants need some dark time to produce sugars and do some ohter stuff that only happens when the lights are out. The recomended light cycle is 16 hours on and 8 hours off. You will decide! Good Luck with your grow.
