Time for germination?

Keeping in mind that it's November in the north east,(indoor grow) how long should it take for a root to come out of the seed, not full germination but the first sign of a root?

I'm not quite sure what difference it would make how long it takes the tap root to appear once placed in water if this is for an indoor grow. All conditions can be manipulated indoors.

Btw, I usually see the tap root appear after about 24-48 hours.
