The white dust on the leafs is diatomaceous earth, I have since pruned all damaged leafs and bathed them with safers trounce, then dusted with no effects

Thrips do not eat leaves like that.

the 2 pics of bugs are thrips larvae and adult thrips.

the leaf damage with how drastic it is could be weevil damage.

Get a good pump up sprayer.
Blast entire plant top to bottom...under leaves etc.

!!!! Treat surrounding areas. !!!!!

Are your babies bug free now? If so how?
If not I read about mixing diatamaceous earth with water and letting it dry on your plants. Also the standard option of a pure cold pressed neem oil with dr bronners sal suds soap. Or captain jacks dead bugs (I think liquid is prefered over powder to do a full soak)

Thanks for all the responses, for the most part things are under control. I’ve been topping the soil after each watering and dusting the stems while masked and fans off for 15min... I have not tried mixing with water but will, any mixing suggestions?

I’ve had some luck at controlling pest with safers, but scales(bugs) have shown up after the thrips(they may have been the crawlers I had found) and so far my best treat ment has been a good scrub with a fairly hard bristle brush and iso99% cotton dabbing.... worst case of girls razor burn I’ve ever seen on my ladies after I was done! After about 5 days they've recovered fairly well, I think(this is all new to me including growing). The ladies legs all dried up and the honeydew turns brown and flakes off exposing their green stocks with another scrub.... fortunately they don’t seem to make it to the leaf cover past the dusty stems.

Any one know the effects of diatomaceous earth on lady bugs? Been thinking of introducing them to my tent.

Not sure where they have come from(on a farm in a garage), but don’t think I’ll be using promix bx again anytime soon again without baking it first.

Oh! I’ve also started using mosquitodunks in my water holding tank. Not sure if that’s a plus or not but figured I’d try it, I think it mainly treats the surface water?
