three finger leaves

Hi all
I'm trying to grow a few plants from bag seed. there are 2 plants in each 12 litre bucket (10 in total), some are doing better than others, but one in particular is a bit strange as it only grows 3 finger leaves instead of the classic 5. Usually the first set of fan leaves are like that but not all of them. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? i'd like to know if the plant is now compromised so that i can chuck it out and leave more room for the other one in the same pot.

i've found that some plants have 3 fingers early in life and as they develop more mature leaves, 5 and 7 ones will appear.

Also though i have had some experience with some inexperienced breeders and through extreme backcrossing and inbreeding strains can develop a trait i called genetic bottlenecking, where they don't have enough copies of certain genes, and can show through weird traits like the one leaf shoots. or just really vulnerable to disease.

thanks man, god knows what strain this is. I'll just leave it for a while and see, although I don't like the idea that it could be more vulnerable to disease

Actually I would love to hear more about this as I have the same problem with some of my clones. I will try to get pics up soon (since no one seems to be able to answer questions without them (and I say that with love not venom, please don't misunderstand and holler at me)) But it seems that after getting their vegetative growth back they are only developing 3 fan leaves for now. The 2 plants I have from seeds are doing beautifully, though I have accidentally stunted their growth with a poor initial reservoir (which has been fixed.) Could that also be what caused the 3 fan leaves, more to the point, if I just let them grow to the end will I get a product I want or should I not bother letting them continue. They are about 6 to 8 inches tall, I think I'm in week 4 or 5 now, and there is no sign of burn or nutrient problems other then the 3 fan thing, and that's only in the clones. The plants the clones came from were very healthy female 5 fan leaf plants.

I will try to get photos up soon, but a crazy work schedule may make that take time, so any and all speculation or information (even if you don't think it will help) would be great. Oh and I don't think it matters but they are white widow.

You don't want more than one plant in each pot. Regardless of the number of leaves I would remove one from each pot and either toss it or replant it into its own pot.

I know it's not ideal but i have to do it at least until they show if they're dudes or ladies as i don't have a lot of space and i want to be sure to get, hopefully, no less than 3-4 female plants. I kept 2 plants per pot before with decent results, although that was lowryder and i have no fucking clue what these are

I've had this happen before too. I read somewhere that some sort of stress causes them to do this, and that they'll eventually settle back into 5 fingers. Also, given enough time, sometimes a plant may move on to 7, 9, 11, or 13 fingers.
Anyway, I've had 3 finger plants that never really came back to normal. They stayed pretty stunted overall, and weren't good yielders. Just my experience... hopefully it'll work out better for you.

maybe its cause its not getting enough sun. same happened to me but the next grow i gave it enough sun and now they have 11 finger leaves

it's getting the same amount of sun the other 9 are getting, so i think something must have happened to stunt it or maybe was just a bad seed.

it doesn't look like any of the new leaves are any different, i'll leave it in the pot for another couple of days to give it its last chance and if there aren't any improvements still i'll send it to ganja heaven (compost bin).

Now then mate , just to let you know if i was you i would seperate those plants and put them into single pots . You dont know which are female and which are male so , What you gonna do if in one pot you have a male and female , how you going to separate them . Have you got any pics as if they are still small enough you can seperate them but if they canny big and got a good root system then your foooooooked . This is what you said below
