thousands of superrr small white things WTF

I got tonns of these little mini tiny white things that i can't even come to close to being able to pick up with the camera. They look like a bacteria but i can see them barely.
*They like wiggle around and float ontop of the water
*In the soil i mean, just noticed them when i watered last
*Kind of look like what i imagine a reallly small larvae looks like, but noo other bugs, have kept sticky traps in there the whole time.
*Im gonna hold off on water this plant for awhile, from what i read it seems that this may help. I'll try and get a picture next time i water
*In Fox Farm soil... 5 gallon buckets... about 3 and a half weeks flower

*Any Ideas?

haha i do have many trichs but this is not them
i'll try and get a pic next time i water
I haven't read anything that matches them to a tee but many things are close
I think it may have to do with have an oscillating heater in the room which keeps the buckets above average warm... Heater is NECESSARY hah temps got down to like 53 last night with the heater(s)
Also when i watered yesterday i noticed either the same thing or something similar on the board that the buckets sit on... fixed that really quick haha just sprayed a bunch of bleach and then "froze" the room.

Could be whiteflies....
Better hope not....
no camera will pick them up....
i lost a couple of beasters on my first grow to them....
Not trying to scare u or anything....
but if u shake the stem of the plant ... do they fly off the plant....???
if so it could be whiteflies....

it might sound like bad advice ..
i dont recommend shaking a plant usually..
but in case of emergency ...like this one
it may be the last option .....
lol...that was funny tho....

There are no flies or anything flying of any sort... whatever it is, it is in the soil.
Um the first pic shows some weird what looks like bites out of the leaf... this may be due to a rather bad Ph problem... as you can see in the 3rd pic. The second one is just the room and is the sweet tooth. The one with the problem is behind the sweet tooth.

gnat larve look like little white specs and they appear when you water, from your description this sounds just like gnats infestation. Try this wait antil you soil is dry and blow real hard on it and look for gnats to fly out from under the soil.

well if thats the case ..... youlll be fine...
sorry for the bad advice earlier...lols
gnat are easy to kill..... just use a magnifing glass.... rub the dirt a lil while....
and right when the fly up... try to corner them ....and spray em.... with bugg off spray ff....
try not tpo spray those buds...... just the flying bugs.....
but usually gnats are black and not extremely small...

The best way to kill gnats, spidermites, and other pest is with an organic pesticede which can be made from neem oil and organic soap like crystol soap. Search on google for neem oil and soap pesticide because it doesnt matter if this gets on your plant because it isnt harmful to the plant because its organic not chemical. Also just a tip neem oil can be found at nurseries or some horticulture stores. Never use chemical bug sprays the vapors from it can be harmfull to your plants and really effect the taste and smell of the bud.

they are pretty hard to notice because they stay under the soil. If you have gnats you will notice very small holes and lines cut in the leaves.

yeah, what IgrowUgrow said...neems the ticket, I love that stuff, took care of a bad thrip infestation with it just a few weeks ago, and my plants actually liked the treatment....gotta love Organics!

also, take a 30X mic, and look on your leaves, I thought thrip larvae were dust particles for about three weeks, then I noticed the new growth on one plant was retarded, so I picked up the mic, and nearly dropped it on the floor when I saw through the eye-piece! Hundreds of little writhing maggot like things on my baby!!!I 30X microscope can be invaluable....and a bottle of neem oil! Good Luck Brutha!

haha damnit. It definitely is NOT gnats, aphids, or whiteflies. Here is a better description.
Size: less than 1 mm long
Color: Appear to be white when you lift the soil. On paper, they have a very light amber color. Not very transparent or translucent.
Mobility: They tend to show up when the soil is disturbed, otherwise, they stay inside the soil. There are NO flying insects (not fungus gnats or white flies), NOR do these jump (not springtails...or not the seeing variety). They like to stay in the soil near the roots.
They do not seem to like the light they crawl back in the soil immediately when disturbed

Sounds like some sort of root maggot for sure man. You may not see any flying adults yet, but you most likely will soon. Just get some Einstein Oil and Organic Dish Soap (Dawn will work though, they use it to clean oil off of animals) and do a soil drench every other week. Should at least slow them bastards waaay down.

Or you can order some Nematodes and they will take care of little buggers for ya. Forget what they "ARE" just kill em!

That still sounds like gnat larve they hide back under the soil when disturbed and also you dont have to have flying adults for it to be gnats. Gnats larve can be in the soil before you buy it they dont have to be adults to be gnats remember that. Also whatever pest it is out of white flies, spider mites, aphids, gnats, powder bugs, root magets, or almost any other pest the neem oil and crystol soap should kill them all, if not go get some of those pest strips and hang around your grow room. Also the way to apply the neem oil to plant is to spray lightly on foliage and mist the top of soil every 3-4 days.

I'd recommend buying a bottle of bug assassin and spraying your plants and soil with it until they are gone. It's a non-chemical bug spay and works very well.
