Thoughts on mh and hps bulbs during flower

I just got 2800 watts worth of MH so I could try this out. I thought it would be really useful, mostly for tightening up the internodal space when the plant goes (into/under) (flower/HPS). I don't know whether it would be more useful to use both simultaneously or in stages.

Brotha, you are sevearly overcompliicating the concept that your tryiing to implament.
Get a hortiilux blue-400w Mh.
Vegg ur ladiies under the Mh u got now.
Add the horiilux to the Hps flower set up.
Viola! better end product.:leaf:

Lol, sorry, I wasn't very specific. I just got 7 400w MH's for about $0.99+pickup--total. I'm only gonna use one or two as I usually run a 1000w HPS or two.

i veg for 10 days and finished in under 60 days, dude thats crazy yield, most strains take at least that longe or more to flower

Sounds interesting i would love to see which way yields more, i usually just veg with mh and switch to hps on 12/12

o used a growzilla hood on my last grow, its a dual bulb hood. so i put a 400w mh, and a 400w hps in there and got amazing results. so i would say use both simultaneously if you can

There is at least some evidence of increased THC production under increased UV-B light. In nature, the areas of the world with high UV-b exposure (equatorial and high mountain) typically grow the best weed.
HPS lamps don't put out any UV-b, but MH bulbs do, so switching out to MH during the last weeks of flowering appears to be a good thing.
I don't have that option, but I did install a UV-B cfl bulb I got at a pet store - for reptiles. I hung it over my plants latest in flower and I felt it helped them plants ripen a bit faster, and a bit more potent.

Why not use both? I use a MH and HPS for my flowering (link in my signature is to my grow journal), and have been extremely pleased. In the end more light is usually a good thing :)

The main benefit of MH is the UVB traces.When no more new flowers show up that when I switch back MH. Switching back to MH is pointless if the reflector is ventilated or using a cool tube because glass filters UVs.

not all glass filters uv or uvb rays

Congrats !! You said your using a 600w hps? Thats what im using and i harvested a couple zips over a pound with three plants at 2' tall. Strain was "Grape Ape".
