thoughts on CREE floodlight set up

Hi All,

Noob here looking to get some thoughts on using "Gosun® Super Bright 100W LED Floodlight"
Warm White(2800-3200K) CREE SMD5050 10 watt chips 120degrees
£46 for 100w (this can be two 50w or one 100w)
From Amazon uk

60 x 60 x 140 tent with two LST autoflower

Using the light for the whole grow

It's that or one of these two

Phlizon 600w about £78

KINGBO 150W LED (HAS ONE 20W CREE CHIP) £49.99

Two of the gosun might be ok, they give very little info. Blurples, like the last two you listed, are crap.

30 watts/square foot is recommended with high quality LED, 50w/ft with low quality.

Those are really your only options? Just buy some screw in house bulbs from the hardware store

There are many different types of "house bulb"

I am choosing LED as from what I've read/heard it is better than CFL and I am not choosing HPS due to heat concerns.

I want to get best results possible for under £80 ($100)

Maybe 200w of CREE flood light would be good. It says 100w is 9000 lumens but doesn't say at what distance. I understand lumens isn't the best and PAR is a better representation of effectiveness however this info is not available

Yeah go buy $100 of led house bulbs at least when you upgrade you can reuse them in your house and they are going to be just as effeciency if not more than what you linked

Went for one 50w Cree floodlight warm white

As it's 120 degrees at 28cm height it will be 50watt per square metre. When the plants get bigger I'll buy more and raise the height.

150watt at about 80cm will be 50watt per square metre.

How does that sound?

Would it be worth also getting a bright white?

I got the 50w yesterday. Using my phone LUX app it measures about 11,000 at about 2 foot (no more even when placed right next to light).

Very very bright, says the colour is 3000k. Have a clip on fan keeping it cool.

Will let you know how the plant likes it

It would be better to spend the money on a couple off 301b strips from Samsung and driver and add more strip's as and when you need or can afford. More light in the right spectrum while using less power and also giving more even spread of light to the canopy.

Googled it but can't see how many watts a strip

Wanted something I can just plug in lol

Surely for 1/2 plant 60cmx60cm space the strip will give too distributed light?

Once/if the plants reach the light I will add another. From my research it appears I have the minimum required light for good growth however I can find little about the spectrum produced. It is 3000k so must be some level of red. It is an auto so running 24hr light.

Can't decide whether to add two 3000k or one 6000k and one 3000k.

imho - google searches seem to bring up too much from the past ..so, people get sucked into old threads about 'blurple' lights (which date from around 2008-2017). Frankly, these blurple lights are now redundant and overpriced (for what you get).

If you have used CFL, the smartest jump (if we talk led) would be a quantum board. Look for something in the 240-250 Watt range (with a dimmer feature) and 3000K light temp (works best in flower but can also be used as a veg light - if you want, think of it as a 'mixed spectrum' light
It will cost roughly double 'blurple' but QB tech is much, much better than blurple. And frankly, after a grow its already paid back!

fyi - I use two 240 watt QBs in a 1m2 tent (the tent is 2 meters in height). I run them at 240Watts in flower. With four plants in soil (12 litre pots), I break the 1g per Watt threshold every time. They cost me about £250, each light
